Razorpay Magic Checkout

Razorpay Magic Checkout is a one-click checkout that Razorpay runs on top of your store. The shopper presses one button and a Razorpay window opens over your store. Razorpay fills in the address they have used before, and they pay by UPI, card or Cash on Delivery in that same window. It runs on your own Razorpay account, so the money settles to you exactly as it does today. SitesPlaced takes 0%; Razorpay's own Magic and gateway fees apply.

It is for stores that sell in rupees and already take payments through Razorpay. Magic Checkout is part of the Growth plan (₹499/month) and is also included in AI Co-founder. On the Free and Starter plans the card is still there, but it says Magic Checkout is part of the Growth plan and the Set up Magic Checkout button stays greyed out. See What's included in each plan.

Before you start

• Your store currency is INR (Settings → Store details → Currency). For any other currency the card says Magic Checkout supports INR stores only.
• Razorpay is connected under Settings → Integrations — see Set up payments. Until it is, the card says Connect Razorpay first (above), then set up Magic Checkout here.
• Razorpay has switched Magic Checkout on for your account. Only Razorpay can do this. Ask your Razorpay account manager — the card calls this person your Razorpay SPOC, short for single point of contact — to enable Magic Checkout and COD. Until they do, the Magic settings screen in Razorpay stays blank or keeps loading.
• Your delivery charge, free-delivery amount, Express option and COD charge are set the way you want them, because Razorpay reads them from your store. See Set delivery charges and Checkout: order methods & form.

Step 1 — Set it up on the card

1. 1From your store dashboard, open Settings → Integrations and scroll to the Razorpay Magic Checkout card.
2. 2Click Set up Magic Checkout. You will see Magic Checkout set up — paste the URLs into your Razorpay dashboard. The card now reads Paused and shows four numbered steps, with a Copy button next to every value you need.
3. 3Click Open Razorpay ↗ at the bottom of the card to open your Razorpay dashboard in a new tab. In Razorpay, choose the Custom e-commerce platform.

Step 2 — Paste the addresses into Razorpay

While its window is open, Razorpay asks your store three questions: can this address be delivered to and what does delivery cost, which coupon codes are on offer, and is this coupon code valid. Each question goes to its own web address (a URL). All three are on the card, each marked Required, along with the webhook details.

1. 1In Razorpay, go to Magic Checkout Settings → Api Service → Edit. Copy URL for shipping info from the card and paste it into the box with the same name. On that screen keep Enable Secret Key and Capture billing address switched off.
2. 2Back on the card, click Check this URL works. It asks the address the same question Razorpay will. A green Working — answered in … line appears, followed by what Razorpay was told for a Mumbai address: the delivery charge, and whether cash on delivery is allowed and at what charge. If those numbers look wrong, change them under Settings → Shipping and Settings → Checkout, not in Razorpay.
3. 3Still in Magic Checkout Settings, scroll to Coupon Settings. Paste URL for get promotions and URL for apply promotions from the card. Razorpay marks both as required, so the screen will not save without them. Leave Enable Get Promotions Secret Key and Enable Apply Promotions Secret Key switched off.
4. 4In Razorpay, go to Account & Settings → Webhooks → Add New Webhook. Paste the Webhook URL and the Secret from the card, and under active events tick these three: order.paid, payment.captured and payment.pending.
5. 5Come back to the card and turn on the switch at the top right. The status changes to Active and Magic Checkout is live on your store.

Coupon codes in the Razorpay window

Under the two coupon addresses on the card there is one tick box: Show my coupon codes inside the Razorpay window. It is off by default, and for a good reason.

• Off — the Razorpay window has no coupon box. Shoppers type their code into the Coupon code box on your cart page and press Apply, as they always have, and the discount is carried into the Razorpay window. Codes a shopper already knows keep working.
• On — the Razorpay window gets its own coupon box and lists every active code the cart qualifies for. That means every shopper who reaches checkout can read all of them. Turn it on only if all your codes are public; leave it off if you hand out private codes to influencers or regulars.

Two details. If a discount is already applied on your cart page — a coupon or an automatic offer — the coupon box inside the window is hidden for that order, so a second code cannot be stacked on top. And a shopper who uses the Buy with Razorpay button on a product page skips the cart, so they can only enter a code when this setting is on. Either way, the discount is always worked out by your store from your live prices, so a code can never be worth more inside Razorpay's window than it is on your own cart. What your customers see

Once the switch is on, your cart page changes. In place of the usual checkout form the shopper sees a Checkout with Razorpay button. Every product page also gets a Buy with Razorpay button, which checks out that one item straight away. Delivery and any COD charge are shown inside the Razorpay window, read from your store each time: your Delivery charge, Free delivery above, Express delivery option and Extra COD charge. Cash on Delivery is offered inside the window only if Show Cash on Delivery is ticked under Settings → Checkout. On the cart page your Minimum order value still has to be met before the button can be pressed; the Buy with Razorpay button on a product page does not check it.

Orders, money and blocked buyers

A Magic order lands in your Orders tab like any other. Its Activity list shows Paid via Razorpay Magic Checkout with the payment method, or Order placed via Razorpay Magic Checkout — Cash on Delivery. Paid orders settle into the bank account linked to your Razorpay account. You get the usual new-order email, stock is updated if you track it, and you ship the order the way you ship any other — see Manage orders & shipments.

One limit to know about. The shopper types their details inside Razorpay's window, so your store only learns who they are once the order is placed. A buyer on your block list therefore cannot be refused. The order is saved with a note in Activity saying the buyer is on your block list, and you cancel it yourself.
