How-To Guides

Step-by-step walkthroughs for the trickier store workflows — selling sizes & colours, getting paid, running a sale, fulfilling an order, importing a store, and launching.

Most questions we get are not about one button. They are about a job — "how do I get paid?", "how do I run a Diwali sale?", "what do I do when an order comes in?" — and each job touches three or four different places in your store dashboard. The guides in this section walk each job end to end, in the order you would actually do it, and link to the single-panel reference articles in Online Stores and Payments & Orders when you want every field explained.

How the pieces fit together

Your store dashboard has eleven tabs: Home, Orders, Products, Messages, AI Co-founder, Loyalty, Reviews, Subscribers, Analytics, Design and Settings. Almost every how-to below moves between three of them:

  • Products is your catalog — names, prices, photos, sizes and colours, stock, badges.
  • Settings is where the store-wide rules live: Catalog & fields, Categories, Discounts, Sales boosters, Checkout, Shipping, Payments & invoices, Pages & policies, SEO & sharing, Tracking & code and Integrations. A floating Save bar appears whenever you change something here — nothing is live until you press it.
  • Orders is where every order lands, whether it was paid online, placed as Cash on Delivery, or sent to you over WhatsApp. You confirm, ship and close orders from there.

The Publish button at the top of the dashboard (or the Publish store bar on your phone) is what makes the store public. Publishing is free and you can Unpublish at any time; everything else in these guides works the same whether the store is live or still a draft.

The order to do things

  1. 1Get products in. Either import them from Instagram, an existing website or a PDF catalog, or add them by hand. If you sell in sizes or colours, set that up before you add lots of items — the catalog model changes what the product form asks for.
  2. 2Decide how you get paid. Connect Razorpay for online UPI and card payments, and keep Cash on Delivery or WhatsApp on as a fallback — How to get paid explains the three settings panels involved.
  3. 3Launch. Run the go-live checklist, place one test order, then hit Publish and share the link.
  4. 4Fulfil orders as they come. From new to delivered covers confirming, shipping with a tracking link, contacting the customer, and what to do with COD and online payments.
  5. 5Grow. When you are ready for a festival sale or a shareable code, run a sale or discount.

Who these guides are for

They are written for the person running the shop, not a developer. You do not need to know what an API is. If you sell jewellery on Instagram, run a boutique on WhatsApp, or are moving an existing store over, start at the top of the list and work down. Every guide uses the exact labels you will see in the dashboard, so you can read on your phone with the store open in another tab.

Everything here works on the free plan

Unlimited products, Razorpay, COD, WhatsApp checkout, coupons, offers, Shiprocket and Shipmozo are all included at ₹0 with a small SitesPlaced badge on your store. The Starter plan (₹199/month) adds your own domain, badge removal, AI copy, analytics, custom tracking code and Meta Pixel + CAPI; the Growth plan (₹499/month) adds WhatsApp Business API alerts, the sales boosters, product reviews and 1-click checkout on top — see Pricing.

Do I have to follow the guides in this order?

No, but it helps. Payments and the catalog model are the two things that are annoying to change after you have added fifty products or shared your link, so those two guides are worth reading first.

Where do I find the settings these guides mention?

Open your store from the dashboard and click the Settings tab. The left-hand list (or the pills on a phone) has every section named in these guides — Checkout, Shipping, Discounts, Integrations and so on. There is also a search box at the top of Settings.

Can I do all this from my phone?

Yes. The store dashboard is built for phones, and the SitesPlaced Android app lets you manage orders and products on the go — see the mobile app guide under Apps & Integrations.

Something in a guide does not match what I see.
