Store details, WhatsApp & currency

Change your store name, your sitesplaced.com link, the WhatsApp number customers reach you on, your currency, and your custom domain.

Settings → Store details (or search *store* in Settings) holds the four facts that identify your store — its Store name, its Store link, the WhatsApp number customers reach you on, and your Custom domain — plus a Currency card for the symbol shown on every price. Most stores set these once at launch; this article explains what each one affects so you know what changes when you edit it later.

Store name

Your Store name appears in the header (next to the logo, if Show store name beside logo is on in Navigation & menu), in the browser tab, on invoices and in order emails, and as the fallback title on Google when you have not set one in SEO & sharing. Renaming it does not change your link.

The Store link is the word before .sitesplaced.com in your address — customers visit yourname.sitesplaced.com. Type a new one to change it. It is saved in lowercase with letters, numbers and hyphens only (spaces and other characters become hyphens), and you will see *Slug is already taken* if another store has it. Changing it changes your store's URL immediately: the old address stops opening your store and is not redirected, so update your Instagram bio, WhatsApp catalogue links and any QR codes you have printed. If you have a verified custom domain, customers on that domain are unaffected.

Think twice before changing the link

Every link you have ever shared points at the old address. If the store is already live and being shared, keep the link and use a custom domain for a nicer address instead.

WhatsApp number

Enter the WhatsApp number with the country code and no plus sign, spaces or dashes — for India that is 91 followed by the 10-digit number, e.g. 919999999999. This one number powers every WhatsApp touchpoint on the storefront:

  • WhatsApp checkout — the customer's cart is sent to this number as a message. If the number is empty, customers choosing WhatsApp see *"This store has not configured a WhatsApp number."* and cannot complete the order that way.
  • The WhatsApp shortcut button on your Contact page form, and the floating WhatsApp chat bubble you can switch on in Settings → Sales boosters.
  • Pre-filled *"message us"* links in sections that offer them.

Automatic order alerts sent from your own WhatsApp Business number are a separate, Growth-plan integration — see WhatsApp order notifications. Need a WhatsApp link or QR code for your packaging or Instagram bio? Use the WhatsApp link generator and WhatsApp QR code generator.

Custom domain

The Custom domain field connects your own domain, like yourbrand.com, so the store opens there instead of the sitesplaced.com address. Custom domains for stores require the Starter plan or above; on the free plan the field shows a lock and an Upgrade to Pro button. Once on the plan, type the domain, follow the DNS instructions (many Indian registrars support one-click setup), and press Check Verification Now. The full walkthrough is in Connect a custom domain.

Currency

The Currency card sets the currency shown on all product prices and at checkout. INR — Indian Rupee is the default; the dropdown also offers USD, EUR, GBP, AED, SGD, AUD, CAD and a dozen others. Changing currency does not convert your prices — the numbers stay exactly as you typed them, only the symbol and formatting change — so if you switch from INR to USD, re-enter every price. Under Advanced: number format (locale) you can force a format such as en-IN (₹1,00,000) or en-US (₹100,000); leave it blank to format automatically for your currency.

Good to know & troubleshooting

  • Changes here are saved with the Save bar at the bottom, together with the rest of your settings.
  • WhatsApp checkout opens a blank chat — check the number has the country code and no +, and that it is the number logged into WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business on your phone.
  • Invoices show the wrong currency symbol — change it here; invoices use the store currency. Orders already placed keep the currency they were placed in.
  • Old link still shared everywhere — you can rename the link back; the name stays available unless another store has claimed it in the meantime.
  • The store name and link can also be changed by your AI assistant through the ChatGPT & Claude connection.
Can I use the same WhatsApp number for two stores?

Yes. The number is just where messages are sent. Each store sends its own cart message, so you can tell them apart.

What format should the WhatsApp number be in?

Country code plus number, digits only — for India, 91 followed by the 10-digit mobile number, e.g. 919999999999. No plus sign, spaces or dashes.

Will changing my store link break my custom domain?

No. A verified custom domain keeps working. Only the free sitesplaced.com address changes.

Does switching currency change my prices?

No. Prices are plain numbers; only the symbol and number formatting change. Re-enter prices if you move to a different currency.
