Payments & Orders
How customers pay you and how you manage incoming orders and shipping — set up UPI, cards and COD, connect Razorpay and Shiprocket, send invoices, and stay on top of every order.
This section covers everything that happens after a shopper presses the order button on your store: how the money reaches you, where the order shows up, how you confirm, pack and ship it, how you and the customer hear about it, and how you hand over a proper invoice. If you have just opened a store and want the short version — you can take orders today with Cash on Delivery or WhatsApp checkout and nothing else set up. Everything below makes that smoother.
What is in this section
- Set up payments — connect Razorpay for UPI, cards and net banking, and add the UPI ID and bank details that print on your invoices for COD and bank-transfer orders.
- Take payments with PhonePe and with Cashfree — two more Indian gateways you can connect with your own account, useful as an alternative or a backup to Razorpay.
- Take card payments with Stripe and payments with PayPal — for customers paying in dollars, pounds or euros.
- Manage orders & shipments — the Orders tab, order statuses, tracking links, and the optional Shiprocket, Shipmozo or Rehbar Post courier integrations.
- Invoices & payment details — download a PDF invoice for any order with one click and customise its wording.
- Order email notifications — the new-order email you get, the confirmation your customer gets, and the push notification in the SitesPlaced app.
- WhatsApp order notifications — order alerts and confirmations from your own WhatsApp Business number via Meta's Cloud API.
- Razorpay Magic Checkout and Shiprocket Checkout (1-click) — one-click checkouts with saved addresses, for stores that sell in rupees.
- Ship orders with Shiprocket — create the shipment, pick a courier, print the label and book the pickup from inside each order.
- Print-on-demand with Qikink — t-shirts, hoodies and mugs printed and shipped within India when they sell.
- Stop fake and spam orders — block a buyer, and cap how many orders one person can place.
How the pieces fit together
At checkout the customer picks how to pay. Pay online with Razorpay appears only once Razorpay is connected; Cash on Delivery and Pay the store directly (UPI or bank transfer) are on by default and can be switched off under Settings → Checkout. If the customer uses the WhatsApp checkout tab (shown when Show WhatsApp checkout is on; Default method decides which tab is pre-selected), the order opens a chat with you instead and is recorded as a manual-payment order.
Every order, whichever way it was placed, lands in the Orders tab with the customer's name, phone, address, the items and the total. Online payments are verified automatically and show a green Paid via Razorpay block; COD and bank-transfer orders are confirmed straight away and carry an Unpaid badge — there is no online payment to verify, so the badge stays even after delivery (the invoice reads COMPLETED / PAID once the order is marked delivered). The moment an order is confirmed, you get an email (and a push notification if you use the app), and the customer gets a confirmation email if they entered one.
From there you move the order along its stages — Confirm → Mark shipped → Out for delivery → Mark delivered — either by hand, or through Shiprocket or Shipmozo which book the courier and pull tracking back in. The customer can follow along on your storefront's Track Order page using the order ID from their confirmation. At any point you can press Invoice (PDF) inside the order to download a clean invoice that already carries your UPI ID and bank details.
The order to do things
- 1Settings → Checkout — decide which order methods to show and whether to add an extra COD charge. See Checkout options.
- 2Settings → Payments & invoices — enter your UPI ID, bank details and a short payment instruction, then tweak the invoice wording if you like.
- 3Settings → Integrations — click Connect with Razorpay if you want online payments. Optional, but it is what turns the Pay online with Razorpay option on.
- 4Settings → Shipping — set delivery charges and any free-delivery threshold. See Shipping charges.
- 5Place a test order on your own store, open it in Orders, download the invoice, and check that the new-order email arrived. Then connect a courier only if you want automation — see Fulfil an order.
Who this is for, and what it costs
All of the above is included on the free plan: 0% commission, Razorpay, Cash on Delivery, WhatsApp checkout, Shiprocket, Shipmozo, Qikink, spam protection, invoices and email alerts. The exceptions are WhatsApp Business API notifications from your own number, the Meta Pixel & Conversions API connection, and the two one-click checkouts — Razorpay Magic Checkout and Shiprocket Checkout — which are part of the Growth plan (₹499/month — early-bird pricing for the first 50 stores, ₹999/month after). See Pricing and What's included. Razorpay charges its usual gateway fee on online transactions; courier charges come from your courier or aggregator wallet — SitesPlaced adds nothing on top.
Selling on Instagram or WhatsApp already?
Keep taking orders the way you do today and let the store handle the paperwork: a proper order ID, a Track Order page, an invoice PDF and a record of every sale. Guides for that workflow: Set up payments the right way and Sell on WhatsApp.
Do I need Razorpay before I can take orders?
No. Cash on Delivery and Bank Transfer / UPI are on by default, and WhatsApp checkout works without any payment setup. Connect Razorpay when you want customers to pay online at checkout.
Does SitesPlaced charge a commission or hold my money?
No. There is 0% commission on store sales on every plan, and online payments settle straight into the bank account linked to your own Razorpay account. SitesPlaced never touches the money.
How will I know when someone orders?
You get an email at your account address for every confirmed order, a push notification if you have the SitesPlaced app on your phone, and — on the Growth plan — a WhatsApp alert from your own business number. The order is always in the Orders tab regardless.
Can I ship orders myself without a courier aggregator?
Yes. Most stores start that way: pack the order, hand it to any courier, paste the tracking link when you mark it shipped. Connect an aggregator only when you want courier booking, labels and tracking pulled in automatically.
