One-click Domain Connect
The fastest way to connect a domain — authorise from a popup and SitesPlaced configures the settings for you.
Last updated 23 August 2026
If your DNS provider supports Domain Connect for SitesPlaced, you can connect your domain without touching a single DNS record: after you save the domain, an Automatic setup available box appears with a Connect automatically with … button. Click it, sign in at your provider in the popup, approve, and SitesPlaced writes every record for you and verifies the domain within a couple of minutes. If you don't see that box, your provider doesn't offer it for SitesPlaced yet — skip to Manual DNS, which takes about five minutes.
Why you might not see the button
Domain Connect is an open standard used by registrars such as GoDaddy, Cloudflare and IONOS. Each provider switches on SitesPlaced's setup template separately, so whether the button appears depends on your provider — not on anything you've done. A provider can switch it on at any time without you changing a thing; until then the manual records are always shown and always work.
How to tell if it's available for your domain
- 1Add your domain in Settings → Store details → Custom domain (stores) or under Custom Domain in the website builder, and click Save — see Connect your own domain.
- 2SitesPlaced looks up who manages your domain's DNS. This takes a second or two after the Pending DNS verification badge appears.
- 3If one-click setup is possible, the panel starts with Automatic setup available and the line Cloudflare supports one-click setup. Log in, approve, and we'll add every DNS record for you — no copy-pasting (with your provider's name), followed by the button and an or set up manually divider.
- 4If the panel starts directly with Add these DNS records in your domain provider, one-click isn't available for this domain. Use the table shown there.
Connect in one click
- 1Click Connect automatically with … (the button is labelled with your provider's name).
- 2A popup opens at your registrar. Sign in there if asked — you're signing in to your registrar, not to SitesPlaced.
- 3The provider shows the records SitesPlaced is asking to add: an A record for
yourbrand.com, a CNAME forwww, and a small TXT record that proves the domain is yours. Review them and click Authorise (some providers label it Allow, Connect or Confirm). - 4The popup changes to DNS records added! — We're verifying your domain now — this window will close automatically — and closes itself a couple of seconds later.
- 5Back in SitesPlaced, the button reads Waiting for approval… and the panel quietly re-checks your DNS every few seconds for about two minutes.
- 6As soon as the records are visible, the badge flips to yourbrand.com is verified and active. You're done — there is nothing to save.
Make sure your browser allows popups for SitesPlaced, otherwise the authorisation window may be blocked from opening. If it is, you'll see Popup blocked — allow popups for this site and try again.
What happens next
After you authorise, the change spreads across the internet — usually within minutes, sometimes up to a few hours. Once it's done, visiting yourbrand.com (and www.yourbrand.com) shows your SitesPlaced site, secured with HTTPS automatically. Your free yourname.sitesplaced.com address keeps working too, and your dashboard's share links and QR code switch over to the new domain.
If something goes wrong
- You clicked cancel at your provider. SitesPlaced shows Connection was cancelled at your DNS provider. You can try again or add the records manually below. Click the button again whenever you're ready. If you simply closed the popup instead, no message appears — the button stops Waiting for approval… after about two minutes and you can click it again.
- The provider reported an error. You'll see Automatic setup didn't complete in the popup and Automatic setup failed at your DNS provider. Add the records manually below in SitesPlaced. This usually means an existing record clashed — the manual table underneath shows exactly which one, labelled Replace.
- Two minutes passed and it's still pending. DNS can be slow to update. Click Check Verification Now yourself after a few minutes; nothing is lost by waiting.
- You use Cloudflare. After approving, open Cloudflare's DNS page and make sure the new A and CNAME records have Proxy status set to DNS only (grey cloud). The orange Proxied setting breaks HTTPS on your site.
- The domain is still attached to another Vercel account (for example an old site you hosted on Vercel yourself). If the table shows an extra TXT record named
_vercel, add that one by hand at your registrar — it's an ownership check the one-click flow doesn't cover.
Don't see the one-click option?
Your registrar may not support Domain Connect. No problem — you can connect it by hand instead with Manual DNS, which works with every registrar.

Which registrars offer one-click Domain Connect?
Domain Connect is used by registrars including GoDaddy, Cloudflare and IONOS, but each one enables SitesPlaced's template separately. The only reliable test is to save your domain and look for the Automatic setup available box. If it's missing, use manual DNS — it's equally effective.
Does SitesPlaced get access to my registrar account?
No. The popup runs on your registrar's own website; you sign in there and approve a fixed set of records. SitesPlaced never sees your password and can't change anything else on your domain.
Is one-click better than manual DNS?
The end result is identical — the same A, CNAME and TXT records. One-click just saves you from copying values and avoids typos.
Can I use one-click on my phone?
It works on mobile browsers that allow popups, but the manual table is easier to handle on a small screen. If the popup doesn't open, switch to a laptop or use manual DNS.
I approved the popup but the badge still says pending. Did it fail?
Probably not — the records are usually written instantly, but it can take a few minutes for SitesPlaced to see them. Click Check Verification Now after a short wait. If the table shows a record marked Replace, edit that record at your registrar.
