Online store with WhatsApp ordering — free for small business

Your customers want to order on WhatsApp. You want the order to be complete, paid and written down. A store with WhatsApp ordering gives you both: a catalogue and cart on a link, and a one-tap checkout that lands the order in your chat and your dashboard.

A WhatsApp ordering system for a small business is a store link where the customer builds a cart, types their address and taps ‘Checkout on WhatsApp’. The order is saved with an ID and arrives in your WhatsApp as one structured message — or the customer pays by UPI, card or COD instead. SitesPlaced gives you exactly this for free: ₹0 to publish, unlimited products, 0% commission, 17 store themes, with Razorpay, cash on delivery, Shiprocket and Shipmozo integrated.

Who this is for

If customers already message you to order, you are running a WhatsApp ordering system — just a manual one. These are the businesses we see switch to a store link first:

What a WhatsApp ordering system should include

WhatsApp ordering is a buying experience, not a button. A good system has six parts, and a SitesPlaced store ships with all of them on the free plan.

A catalogue customers can use alone

Prices, sizes, colours, stock and photos on a page that answers the questions you currently answer in chat, at any hour.

A cart and a real address form

Name, phone, address line, city, state and pincode in separate fields, so the parcel goes to the right place the first time.

One-tap WhatsApp checkout

The order is saved with an ID, then WhatsApp opens with the full order message for the customer to send. You see it instantly.

Online payment and COD

UPI, cards, net banking and wallets through Razorpay, or cash on delivery with an optional charge. Paid orders are marked paid automatically.

An order dashboard

Every order, whichever way it came in, with status, invoice and customer details. Reports tell you what sold without scrolling chats.

Delivery with tracking

Push orders to Shiprocket or Shipmozo, get the AWB back, and let customers check progress on your Track Order page.

How the order flows, end to end

A customer opens your link from Instagram, adds a few items and reaches checkout. They fill in their name, phone and address, pick WhatsApp, and tap once. The store saves the order first — so it has a number even if the chat is never sent — then opens WhatsApp with this message:

BBloom & Co. CandlesWhatsApp

Hi, I want to order:

Name: Priya M.

Phone: 97xxxxxx58

Address: 7, Rose Garden Lane

City: Jaipur

Pincode: 302001

Items:

- Soy candle — Lavender (200 g) x2₹1,180

- Gift box x1₹150

Total: ₹1,330

Illustrative order message. Names and products are fictional; the structure is what the store sends.

You reply to confirm, request UPI or agree COD, and mark the order paid. If the customer had chosen to pay online instead, the order would already be marked paid via Razorpay. Either way it is the same order record, ready to push to a courier.

Set it up in six steps

  1. Create the store

Open /naari, pick one of 17 themes and add products — photos, prices, variants, stock and categories. Import from Instagram, a PDF or an existing site if you already have a catalogue. Free, with no product cap.

  2. Connect WhatsApp

Settings → Store details → WhatsApp number (with 91 in front). ‘Show WhatsApp checkout’ under Settings → Checkout is on by default; rename the button or make WhatsApp the default order method if you prefer.

  3. Choose the other ways to pay

Connect Razorpay for UPI, cards, net banking and wallets; enable cash on delivery with an optional COD charge; set shipping charges, a free-shipping threshold or an express option.

  4. Set delivery up once

Connect Shiprocket or Shipmozo so an order can be pushed to a courier from the dashboard with tracking, or keep deliveries local and update the status by hand.

  5. Publish and share the link

Publishing is ₹0. Put the link in your Instagram bio, WhatsApp profile and status, and print the free WhatsApp QR code for packaging and the shop counter.

  6. Run orders from one screen

Every order — WhatsApp, UPI, card or COD — sits in the dashboard with an ID, status, invoice and the customer’s details. Confirm, ship and follow up from there.

Everything above is on the free plan: ₹0 to publish, unlimited products, 0% commission, with Razorpay, COD, WhatsApp checkout, Shiprocket and Shipmozo included. The ₹499/month Ecommerce plan (early-bird; ₹999 after the first 30 stores) adds a custom domain, branding removal, AI copy, analytics, Meta Pixel + Conversions API and WhatsApp Business API alerts sent from your own number. See pricing.

Store themes built for WhatsApp-first sellers

Every theme includes the cart, address form and WhatsApp checkout. Pick one that matches what you sell and change colours, fonts and copy in the editor.

Two kinds of WhatsApp, one store

It helps to separate two things people mean by ‘WhatsApp ordering’:

  • WhatsApp checkout — the customer sends you the order from their WhatsApp. Free on every SitesPlaced store.
  • WhatsApp Business API alerts — your store sends messages from your own WhatsApp Business number: an alert to you and a confirmation to the customer for every order, including UPI and COD orders placed without a chat. Part of the ₹499/month Ecommerce plan (early-bird; ₹999 after the first 30 stores), using Meta’s Cloud API with your own credentials.

Most businesses start with the first and add the second when online payments become a meaningful share of orders. The same plan adds a custom domain, branding removal, AI product copy, analytics and Meta Pixel + Conversions API.

Free tools to go with the store

Razorpay, Shiprocket, Shipmozo, WhatsApp API, Meta CAPI: all built in.

Razorpay, cash on delivery, WhatsApp checkout, Shiprocket and Shipmozo are on the free plan. The ₹499/month Ecommerce plan adds the Meta integrations: Pixel + Conversions API and WhatsApp Business API alerts, bring your own credentials, plus your own domain, branding removal, AI and analytics. No app store, no per-integration fees.

Frequently asked questions

What is a WhatsApp ordering system?

A way for customers to place a complete order — products, quantities, address and total — that reaches you on WhatsApp, with the order also recorded somewhere you can manage it. On SitesPlaced it is a free online store with a ‘Checkout on WhatsApp’ button: the store collects the cart and address, saves the order with an ID and opens WhatsApp with the message ready to send.

Is an online store with WhatsApp ordering free?

On SitesPlaced, yes. Publishing is ₹0 with unlimited products and 0% commission, and the free plan includes WhatsApp checkout, Razorpay for UPI and cards, cash on delivery, and Shiprocket and Shipmozo shipping. The ₹499/month Ecommerce plan is optional and adds a custom domain, branding removal, AI copy, analytics, Meta Pixel + Conversions API and WhatsApp Business API alerts.

Do customers need to install anything or create an account?

No. The store opens in any browser, and checkout does not require a customer account. For WhatsApp checkout the buyer simply needs WhatsApp on their phone or computer; the store opens the chat with the order message prefilled.

Can customers pay by UPI instead of ordering on WhatsApp?

Yes. You can show both options side by side: pay now by UPI, card, net banking or wallet through Razorpay, or send the order on WhatsApp and pay after confirmation. Cash on delivery can be offered as well, with an optional COD charge you set.

Which small businesses use WhatsApp ordering?

Home bakers and tiffin services, boutiques and saree sellers, jewellery brands, grocery and organic stores, skincare and candle makers, gifting businesses and local shops that deliver nearby. Anyone whose customers already message them to order is a fit; the store just makes those orders complete and countable.
