Stripe is built into every SitesPlaced store on the free plan. You connect your own Stripe account by pasting a restricted key with four permissions — never your master secret key — and we register the order-notification endpoint for you, so there is no signing secret to copy. Customers pay on Stripe's own hosted page, which brings Apple Pay, Google Pay and the bank-approval step UK and EU cards require. Money settles to your Stripe account; SitesPlaced charges 0% commission.

What Stripe does on a SitesPlaced store
Cards and wallets, worldwide
Credit and debit cards plus Apple Pay and Google Pay on phones that support them. Turn on Klarna, Afterpay or Link in your own Stripe dashboard and they appear at your checkout with nothing to change here.
A restricted key, not your secret key
We ask for a key limited to four permissions. It cannot move your money, read your customer list or change your account. We tell you exactly which boxes to tick.
No signing secret to copy
The usual sticking point — creating a webhook and pasting a whsec_ value — is done for you at connect time. It is the step people most often get wrong, and here it doesn't exist.
Sales tax, if you use Stripe Tax
Switch Stripe Tax on in your own dashboard, tick one box here, and Stripe works the tax out at checkout. We never calculate tax ourselves — you are the seller of record.
Which plan, and what it costs
- ✓SitesPlaced: Free plan — ₹0 to publish, 0% SitesPlaced commission.
- ✓Third-party fees: Stripe charges its own per-transaction fee (commonly around 2.9% + 30¢ in the US, and it varies by country and method). Stripe Tax, if you enable it, is billed separately by Stripe. Check Stripe's pricing page for current rates.

How to set up Stripe
Where: Dashboard → your store → Settings → Payments & invoices → Stripe. Takes: about 5 minutes (with an existing Stripe account).
Create a restricted key in Stripe
In Stripe open Developers → API keys → Create restricted key. Set Checkout Sessions to Write, PaymentIntents to Read, Webhook Endpoints to Write and Refunds to Write. Leave everything else as None.
Paste it into your store
In your SitesPlaced dashboard open your store, go to Settings → Payments & invoices and paste the key into the Stripe card. We validate it with Stripe and set up order notifications automatically.
Switch it on at checkout
Tick “Customers can pay by card”. A Card payment option now appears at checkout alongside any other methods you offer.
Place a test order
Open your live store and buy something. The order appears in the Orders tab marked paid once Stripe confirms the payment.
Good to know
- ✓Stripe and Razorpay can both be connected. Indian customers get UPI through Razorpay; overseas customers pay by card through Stripe.
- ✓Stripe is not available to new merchants in India, so this is aimed at stores selling in dollars, pounds or euros with a Stripe account opened in a supported country.
- ✓You are the seller of record, so sales tax is yours to handle. In the US, states can require you to collect it once you pass a threshold — commonly around $100,000 or 200 orders a year, though it varies.
- ✓Refund from your Stripe dashboard and the order is marked refunded automatically. If it included digital downloads, the download link stays live until you disable it — a refund isn't always a withdrawal of the files.
- ✓Disconnect removes the key and deletes the notification endpoint we created on your Stripe account.

Frequently asked questions
Is Stripe free on SitesPlaced?
Yes. The integration is on the free plan and SitesPlaced charges 0% commission. Stripe's own per-transaction fee still applies, as it would on any website.
Do I have to give you my Stripe secret key?
No, and you shouldn't. We ask for a restricted key with four specific permissions. It cannot move money or read your customers. If any website builder asks for your full sk_live_ key, that is a reason to say no.
Where does the money go?
Into the Stripe account you connect, on Stripe's normal payout schedule. SitesPlaced never holds your funds and cannot pay itself from them.
Do Apple Pay and Google Pay need extra setup?
No. Customers pay on Stripe's hosted page, so both appear automatically on supported devices.
Can I use Stripe for Indian customers?
For rupee payments Razorpay is the better fit because it supports UPI, which is how most Indian customers prefer to pay. Use Stripe for overseas card payments.
