What happens on every order

1. A customer places an order on your store, by UPI, card, or cash on delivery.
2. You get a WhatsApp message with the order number, items, amount and the customer’s details.
3. The customer gets a confirmation from your business number with the order number and what they bought.
4. If Meta is slow or a send fails, it is queued and retried, so a confirmation is delivered late rather than never.

Nobody types anything. The messages use utility templates that Meta has already approved, which is why they arrive reliably and do not count as marketing.

Why your own number, not ours

Your customer’s phone shows your brand name and your number. The conversation lives in your WhatsApp, so when they reply with a question, you answer it. A shared platform number would put a stranger between you and the person who just paid you. We deliberately built it the other way.

What you need, honestly

This uses the official WhatsApp Business API, which means a Meta Business account and a WhatsApp Business API number, with its access credentials pasted into your SitesPlaced store settings. If you have only used the WhatsApp Business app on your phone, the API is a separate thing, and setting it up in Meta Business Manager takes some patience. Ecommerce-plan stores get a dedicated setup person who will do this with you.

Meta charges its own per-conversation fee for API messages; SitesPlaced adds nothing on top. The integration is part of the ₹499/month Ecommerce plan, with a setup person included.

WhatsApp checkout vs WhatsApp notifications

SitesPlaced has had WhatsApp checkout since the start: a buyer taps a button and places the order by chat. Notifications are the other direction: the store talks to the buyer automatically after a normal checkout. Most sellers use both, checkout for the hesitant first-timer, notifications for everyone who pays on the page.
