How to run your online store with AI in 2026: a playbook for one person and twenty minutes a day.
Most solo sellers in India do not need an AI that runs the store while they sleep. They need to stop spending three hours a day on things that should take twenty minutes: checking orders, answering the same WhatsApp questions, writing captions, fixing a price that was wrong. This is the playbook we use with SitesPlaced sellers — a daily routine, a weekly rhythm, which tool does which job, and a clear line between what AI does for you today and what is still being built.
First, what "running your store with AI" means in 2026
It means three things, in order of how useful they are. AI reads — your numbers, your orders, what customers keep asking. AI drafts — descriptions, captions, WhatsApp broadcasts, SEO titles. AI edits — prices, products, sections on the store — with you approving each change. It does not yet mean AI selling for you. Anyone promising a store that "runs itself" in 2026 is selling the promise, not the tool.
On SitesPlaced the AI is a team of four agents inside your dashboard. Brix (Builder) edits the store and adds products by chat and explains any setting. Ledger (Co-founder) reads your real sales, visits, best-sellers and checkout funnel and tells you what to do next — and only reports numbers it actually read. Bloom (Growth) writes WhatsApp broadcasts, Instagram captions, product descriptions and festival campaign plans from your real products. Beacon (SEO) writes titles, descriptions and keywords and explains indexing in plain language. Every change any of them proposes arrives as an Apply card you approve. Nothing changes without you.
Availability today (9 September 2026)
The whole AI team — plus a campaign planner, a creative studio for product photos and ad creatives, carousels, a store-wide SEO audit and a retargeting kit — comes with the SitesPlaced AI Co-founder plan: ₹1,499/month, everything in the ₹499 Growth plan included, 1,500 AI credits every month. Any store owner can subscribe from /pricing or the upgrade prompt in the dashboard; the full tour is at /ai-cofounder. The steps are at the end of this guide.
Which tool does which job
Keep the toolset small. A solo store needs three kinds of tools: the agents and the AI Co-founder tab inside the store, a general AI assistant connected to the store for bulk work, and a short-video editor on your phone. Here is the split.
| Job | Tool | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Edit products, prices, sections, announcement bar | Brix (SitesPlaced Builder) | Type "add Masala Chai at ₹249" or "change the announcement bar to a weekend sale". Brix shows an Apply card with the exact change; you approve or edit it. |
| Know how the store did and what to do next | Ledger (SitesPlaced Co-founder) | Ask "how did I do this week?" or "why am I getting visits but no orders?". It reads your real orders, visits, sources and funnel from store analytics. It never guesses a number. |
| WhatsApp broadcasts, Instagram captions, product descriptions, festival plans | Bloom (SitesPlaced Growth) | Drafts from your actual products and prices. You send the broadcast from Broadcasts in the dashboard — email to your subscribers and past buyers, WhatsApp through a Meta-approved template once your Cloud API is connected — or copy it into the WhatsApp Business app. |
| SEO titles, descriptions, keywords, indexing questions | Beacon (SitesPlaced SEO) | Writes them per product and page and explains Search Console in plain words. |
| Bulk edits across many products | ChatGPT or Claude through the SitesPlaced MCP connector | Connect at /developers/mcp. Then "raise every price in the Sarees category by 10%" or "add these 40 products from this sheet" runs through the add_product and update_product tools, with the chat showing you the plan first. |
| Product photos, ad creatives and carousels | Creative studio and Carousels (the AI Co-founder tab in your dashboard) | Shoot one clean phone photo. The creative studio turns it into a packshot, lifestyle scene, UGC-style shot, offer poster or festival banner — 12 styles, 5 sizes — keeps the product identical, renders your headline and offer on the image, and can attach the result to the product gallery. Carousels: a topic in, 3–7 rendered slides plus caption and hashtags out. Check every image before you use it. |
| Plan a Meta ads campaign | Campaign planner (AI Co-founder tab) | Give it a goal and a daily budget. It picks products from your real best-sellers, works out break-even ROAS, writes five hook angles, an audience plan (broad, then interest, then retargeting), a 7-day schedule with kill and scale rules, and the WhatsApp broadcast and Instagram caption to go with it. You run the ads in Ads Manager. |
| Retarget buyers and list products on Meta and Google | Retargeting kit (AI Co-founder tab) | A Meta Pixel and Conversions API checklist, product feeds at yourstore/feed.csv (Meta Catalog) and yourstore/feed.xml (Google Merchant Center), and an audience checklist. |
| Short videos | Your phone and a short-video editor | AI video is not live on SitesPlaced. Shoot vertical, cut to 15–30 seconds, put the price and the store link in the caption. |
| Customer replies on WhatsApp and Instagram | You, with saved replies in the WhatsApp Business app | No WhatsApp or Instagram auto-reply on SitesPlaced today; the storefront assistant on the AI Co-founder plan answers size, delivery and policy questions on the store itself and hands off to your WhatsApp when unsure. Keep six to eight saved replies ready: sizes, delivery time, COD, returns, payment options, bulk orders. |
All four agents, the campaign planner, creative studio, carousels, SEO audit and retargeting kit come with the SitesPlaced AI Co-founder plan (₹1,499/month, Growth included, 1,500 credits a month). The credit cost shows before every action and failed generations are refunded.
The daily 20-minute routine
Same time every day, phone in hand, before you open Instagram to scroll. The routine works because it ends. If it runs past twenty minutes, something in it belongs in the weekly slot instead.
- Orders — 5 minutes. Open the Orders tab. Confirm new cash-on-delivery orders on WhatsApp. Mark yesterday's parcels as shipped, or let Shiprocket or Shipmozo do it. Mark the ones that arrived as Delivered — that is what triggers the review request.
- Numbers — 3 minutes. Ask Ledger "what happened yesterday?" — visits, orders, where they came from, which product. Or read the Analytics tab yourself. You are looking for one surprise, not a report. A product that got 40 visits and no order is a photo or price problem you can fix today.
- Messages — 7 minutes. WhatsApp and Instagram DMs, in one sitting. Use saved replies. Anyone asking "is this available?" gets the product link, not a yes — a link ends in an order, a yes ends in another question.
- One improvement — 5 minutes. One thing only. A product description Bloom rewrites and you apply. A missing second photo. One Beacon title on a product that ranks nowhere. Do this every working day and the store is a different store in a month.
Why the order matters
Orders first because money and courier cut-offs are time-sensitive. Numbers second because they decide what the day's one improvement should be. Messages third because they expand to fill any time you give them.
The weekly rhythm
The daily routine keeps the store alive. The weekly rhythm makes it grow. Add one 30–45 minute block on each of these days, on top of the daily twenty.
| Day | Block | Who helps |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Week review: best sellers, traffic sources, where the checkout funnel drops. Pick the one thing to fix this week and write it down. | Ledger, or the Analytics tab |
| Tuesday | Products: shoot two or three new or under-performing products, add them, get descriptions written and a clean packshot made. | Your phone; Brix to add them; Bloom for the copy; the creative studio for the packshot |
| Wednesday | Content: three Instagram captions for the week, one carousel, and one Reel idea built around the best seller. | Bloom; Carousels |
| Thursday | Broadcast: one WhatsApp message to opted-in customers, only if there is a reason — new stock, a restock, an offer ending. | Bloom drafts; you send from Broadcasts in the dashboard or the WhatsApp Business app |
| Friday | Search: SEO titles and descriptions for the products you added; check Search Console for new queries. | Beacon |
| Saturday | Stock and shipping: low-stock products, pending shipments, delivered orders marked, reviews approved and replied to. | Orders and Reviews tabs |
| Sunday | Off. Or a photo session if festival season is coming. | — |
If a week is too busy, keep Monday and Thursday. Reading the numbers and sending one message to customers is the minimum that keeps a store moving.
The rule: approve, don't autopilot
Every write on SitesPlaced is an Apply card. That is deliberate. It is the one thing that keeps AI from doing damage in your name. Before you press Apply, check three things.
- Prices and stock are yours, not the AI's. If the AI put ₹1,299 where you meant ₹1,199, the card shows it — read the card, not just the button. Stock numbers and sale prices are the two fields to check every single time.
- Claims must be true. "Ships in 24 hours", "handmade", "pure silk", "chemical-free" — only if you can stand behind it. AI copies patterns from the internet; it has no idea what is in your product. If a description says pure silk and the product is art silk, fix it before it goes live.
- The tone is your shop's. If a caption sounds like an agency wrote it and you sell from your home in Jaipur, edit two lines. Customers on a small store buy from a person.
The same rule applies to ChatGPT or Claude through the MCP connector. Ask for the plan, read it, then let it run. For bulk price changes, ask it to list the before and after for every product before it touches anything. It takes a minute and it has saved sellers from a 10% discount becoming a 90% one.
Festival-season sprint template (Diwali, Navratri, Eid, Christmas)
Festival season is where a solo seller earns a large share of the year, and where AI saves the most time, because the work is the same every year: a collection, a set of photos, a broadcast sequence, and a shipping cut-off date. Ask Bloom "plan a Diwali campaign for my store" and you get the skeleton below filled in with your own products. Then run it as a three-week sprint.
| When | What | Tool |
|---|---|---|
| T-21 days | Pick the festival collection (8–15 products). Decide the one offer: a bundle, free shipping above ₹X, or a small coupon. Create the coupon with an expiry date. Ask your courier for the last order date that still delivers before the festival — that date drives every message below. | Ledger for last year's best sellers; Brix to create the coupon and a festival section |
| T-14 | One photo session for the whole collection. Descriptions and SEO titles for each product. Announcement bar: "Diwali collection is live". | Your phone; the creative studio for Diwali gifting shots and the sale banner; Bloom for descriptions; Beacon for titles; Brix for the bar |
| T-14 | Broadcast 1 — teaser to opted-in customers: the collection is up, early buyers get first pick of sizes. | Bloom drafts; you send from Broadcasts |
| T-7 | Broadcast 2 — the offer, with the last date to order for delivery before the festival. Instagram: three posts and one Reel across the week. | Bloom |
| T-3 | Broadcast 3 — "last three days for guaranteed delivery". Stock check; mark sold-out sizes out of stock so nobody orders what you cannot ship. | Bloom; Products tab |
| T-1 | Broadcast 4 — last call, only if stock remains. Let the coupon expire on its date rather than remembering to switch it off. | Bloom |
| T+3 | Thank-you message to buyers — in their own chat, not a broadcast. Mark deliveries so review requests go out. Ask Ledger what sold, what did not, and what to carry into the next festival. | Ledger |
Four broadcasts across three weeks is the ceiling, not the target. Sellers who message daily during Diwali get muted and reported, and WhatsApp counts reports against your number. Three well-timed messages beat ten.
Opt-in is not optional
Broadcast only to people who have messaged you, ordered from you, or ticked a box on your store. A broadcast list in the WhatsApp Business app holds up to 256 contacts and only reaches people who have saved your number — which is a useful filter, not a bug. Dates move: Navratri and Diwali shift every year, and the two Eids come about eleven days earlier each year. Look up the date, then count back.
Mistakes to avoid
- Letting AI invent prices, discounts or claims. An AI that writes "now ₹499, was ₹1,999" for a product that was never ₹1,999 has written a misleading advertisement in your name. Prices and comparisons come from you.
- Sending broadcasts without opt-in. Buying a phone-number list and blasting it is the fastest way to lose a WhatsApp number you have spent a year building. It also does not sell.
- Keyword-stuffed SEO. "Cotton kurti cotton kurta women kurti online buy kurti" ranked in 2015. Today it reads as spam to Google and to people. Beacon writes one clear title with the main phrase once; keep it that way.
- Applying everything the AI suggests. Five changes a day you did not read is autopilot with extra steps. One change a day you checked is a system.
- Replacing real product photos with generated ones and hiding it. If a buyer receives something that does not look like the photo, that is a return and a bad review. Generated lifestyle scenes are fine; a generated product is not.
- Asking an AI for numbers it cannot see. Ledger reports only what it read from your store. If you ask a general chatbot "how did my store do?" without the connector, it will make something up, politely.
What AI does for you today, and what is on the roadmap

Roadmap items are planned, not live. We publish them so sellers can tell us which one to build first.
How to get it (the AI Co-founder plan)
- Take the SitesPlaced AI Co-founder plan at /pricing#ai-cofounder or from the upgrade prompt in your dashboard — ₹1,499/month (₹14,990/year, two months free; $29.99/month outside India). It includes everything in the ₹499 Growth plan, so you do not need both; sellers on the Growth plan who upgrade keep everything they have.
- Payment happens in place (Razorpay in India, Dodo abroad). The four agents and the AI Co-founder tab — campaign planner, creative studio, carousels, SEO audit, retargeting kit — open straight away, with 1,500 AI credits for the month.
- Know the credit prices: an agent message costs 1, a product copy rewrite 1, a campaign plan or SEO audit 5, an image 2 to 45 by quality, a carousel slide 12. The cost shows before every action, failed generations are refunded, and top-ups start at ₹499 for 500 credits and never expire while you subscribe.
- Run the daily routine for two weeks, then tell us what you wished the agents had done — WhatsApp or admin@sitesplaced.com. That feedback decides the order of the roadmap above.
If you only want your own domain and the sales boosters, the Growth plan on its own is ₹499/month early-bird (rising to ₹999), and every new account gets its features free for 14 days with no card. If you are on the free plan, everything in the "do it yourself" column works today — unlimited products, 0% commission, Razorpay, PhonePe, Cashfree, COD, WhatsApp checkout, coupons and shipping integrations — and the routine still applies. The agents just shorten it.
FAQs
Can AI run my online store completely on its own in 2026?
No. AI can read your numbers, draft your marketing and make edits you approve. It cannot ship parcels, answer the messages on your WhatsApp number, or take responsibility for a wrong price. Any tool that promises a store that runs itself is promising something it cannot do safely. The practical goal is a store you run in twenty minutes a day, with AI doing the drafting and reading.
Do I need to pay extra for the SitesPlaced AI agents?
The agents come with the SitesPlaced AI Co-founder plan at ₹1,499/month ($29.99/month outside India), which includes everything in the ₹499 Growth plan plus 1,500 AI credits a month — so it is one plan, not Growth plus an add-on. The free plan and the plain Growth plan do not include the agents. Every action has a published credit price shown before it runs; failed generations are refunded. New accounts still get the Ecommerce features free for 14 days without a card.
Which should I use for bulk product edits — ChatGPT or Claude?
Either. Both connect to your store through the SitesPlaced MCP connector documented at /developers/mcp and use the same tools to list, add and update products. Pick the one you already pay for. The habit that matters is asking for the plan and the before-and-after list before letting it run.
Can the AI send my WhatsApp broadcasts for me?
On the AI Co-founder plan, yes, from the dashboard. Bloom writes the broadcast from your real products and offer; Broadcasts sends it to the newsletter subscribers your store collects and to past buyers — by email now, and on WhatsApp through a Meta-approved template once your WhatsApp Cloud API is connected — up to 2,000 recipients a send and three sends a day, with a one-click unsubscribe on every email. A campaign plan has a Send to subscribers link that pre-fills it. Without the Cloud API, paste it into the WhatsApp Business app and send it to a broadcast list of customers who have opted in.
Is it safe to let AI change my product prices?
Only with approval, which is how it works on SitesPlaced: every change is an Apply card showing the exact before and after. Prices, sale prices and stock are the fields to read every time. Never connect a tool that can change prices without showing you first.
How much time will this actually save me?
We do not have a number we can prove, so we will not give you one. The routine is designed to fit in twenty minutes a day plus one weekly block, and the parts AI takes over are the ones sellers say eat their evenings — writing, rewriting and reading reports. Try it for two weeks and time it yourself.
Run the store, not the admin.
Free plan: unlimited products, 0% commission, Razorpay, PhonePe and Cashfree on your own account, COD, WhatsApp checkout and shipping integrations. Growth plan: your own domain, analytics, sales boosters and product reviews — free for your first 14 days, no card. AI Co-founder plan: all of that plus the four agents, campaign planner and creative studio, ₹1,499/month with 1,500 credits.
