SitesPlaced for ShopifyEarly access

The Shopify connector copies a shop's orders into SitesPlaced and sends fulfilment and tracking back. It is built, but it is not open to every account yet, and you cannot install it yourself today. This page says what it will do, what its limits are, and how to ask for access.

What it will do

The idea is the same as for WooCommerce. You keep your Shopify shop exactly as it is, and its orders also appear in SitesPlaced, so you can use the order dashboard, the mobile app, courier booking, WhatsApp order messages, a tracking page for your customers and the AI Co-founder on them.

  • Shopify test orders are skipped.
  • An order that is already fulfilled gets its tracking updated, instead of a second fulfilment. An order split across locations is fulfilled per location. An order with nothing to ship is skipped.
  • Cancel and refund on Shopify, where the payment was taken. The copy in SitesPlaced follows. Cancelling a copied order inside SitesPlaced is blocked, with a note that says why.
  • Copied products are kept apart from SitesPlaced products. They can never be sold on a SitesPlaced storefront.
  • Every message from Shopify is checked against its signature before it is trusted.
  • When Shopify asks the connector to slow down, it waits for the time Shopify gives.

The 60-day history limit, and why

When a shop connects, the connector brings in up to 60 days of past orders. They arrive as history, so they send no mobile push, no WhatsApp message and no webhook.

The limit is Shopify's own rule, not ours. An app can read only the last 60 days of a shop's orders unless Shopify grants that app wider access. Every order placed after you connect is copied, with no time limit. The WooCommerce plugin is not bound by that rule, because it runs inside your own site: it can import up to 365 days.

What “protected customer data” means

Protected customer datais Shopify's name for a shopper's personal details: their name, address, phone number and email. Shopify does not hand these to an app by default. The app has to say why it needs them and be approved first.

SitesPlaced needs those details for plain reasons:

  • to show you who placed the order
  • to book a courier to the right address
  • to send WhatsApp order messages to the phone number on the order
  • to run the second-detail check on the tracking page, which asks for the last 4 digits of the phone number or the email

Waiting for that approval is one of the reasons the connector is still in early access. If an order ever arrives without those details, it is stored under the name Customer, and WhatsApp messages and the second-detail check simply do not apply to the missing field.

What is done with the data if you leave:

  • If you remove the app from your Shopify admin, the connection is closed and SitesPlaced deletes its access to your shop at once.
  • When Shopify sends a request to erase a shopper's data, that shopper's details on the copied orders are anonymised.

Not in this version

  • A listing in the Shopify App Store. The connector is an unlisted app for now.
  • A screen inside the Shopify admin. You manage the connection from SitesPlaced.
  • Two-way stock sync. Shopify stays in charge of stock.

What it will cost

The same as any connected shop. One connected shop is free, with order sync and a tracking page that carries the SitesPlaced badge. A paid store plan (Growth or AI Co-founder) allows five connected shops, removes the badge and includes WhatsApp order messages. Prices are on the pricing page. Your Shopify plan and its charges are separate and stay as they are.

How to ask for access

  1. Open the contact page.
  2. Tell us your shop's address and roughly how many orders you ship in a month.
  3. We will write back when your shop can connect. There is nothing to install until then.

Selling on WooCommerce as well, or instead? That plugin is available now: SitesPlaced for WooCommerce. If you only want your Shopify products in a new SitesPlaced store, and not your orders, the store importer does that today.
