What an AI co-founder actually does for a small online store.
"AI co-founder" is the phrase of the year in Indian store-builder ads: a partner that runs your shop while you sleep. Some of that is real and some is a reel. This is a plain explanation for a seller running a store alone, on a phone, between orders — what the phrase means, the six jobs an AI co-founder should do, which of those SitesPlaced's AI team does today and which are still being built, what a normal week looks like, and what to watch out for before you trust any AI with your store.
A co-founder versus a chatbot, in one paragraph
A chatbot answers questions. You ask "how do I write a good product description?" and it gives you a general answer that would suit any store on earth. An AI co-founder is different in two ways. It works from your store — it can see your products, your orders, your visitors — so its answer is about your kurta, not kurtas in general. And it does the work rather than describing it: it writes the description, changes the headline, reads this week's sales, and hands you the result.
That second part has a catch. Anything that can act can act wrongly. So the mark of a trustworthy AI co-founder is not how much it does on its own, but whether it shows you each change and waits for a yes. Keep that in mind through the rest of this guide; it is the main thing to check in any product you look at.
The six jobs that matter — and which ones exist today
For a one-person store, an AI co-founder has six jobs worth paying for. Here is each one, and where SitesPlaced's team of four — Brix the builder, Ledger the co-founder, Bloom the growth writer and Beacon the SEO specialist — stands on it as of 9 September 2026.
| Job | What it looks like | On SitesPlaced today |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Edit the store | "Change the announcement bar to a weekend sale." "Add Masala Chai at ₹249." "Make the hero headline sound more premium." | Live. Brix does this by chat. Each edit arrives as an Apply card you approve. |
| 2. Read the numbers | "How did I do this week?" "Why do I get visits but no orders?" "Which product should I push?" | Live. Ledger reads your real sales, visits, best-sellers and checkout funnel and says what to do next. It only reports numbers it read. |
| 3. Write the marketing | A WhatsApp broadcast for Saturday's sale, an Instagram caption for the best-seller, a Diwali campaign plan, product descriptions that sell. | Live for writing. Bloom drafts all of it from your actual products; the campaign planner turns a goal and daily budget into a 7-day plan with the broadcast and caption written, and the creative studio makes the images. Sending is still you — SitesPlaced does not send broadcasts on your behalf yet. |
| 4. Get found on Google | Titles, meta descriptions and keywords for every product and page; plain answers on indexing and ranking. | Live. Beacon writes them and applies with your approval. |
| 5. Chase abandoned carts | A WhatsApp or email nudge to the buyer who left at checkout, sent without you noticing. | Live on AI Co-founder. A buyer who typed their email or phone and left gets a saved-cart email after 1 hour and again after 24 hours, and a WhatsApp message through a Meta-approved template when your Cloud API is connected. One tap restores the cart. Every message carries an unsubscribe. |
| 6. Run promotions while you sleep | A flash sale that switches itself on at midnight and off on Sunday; a coupon that only works this weekend. | Live on AI Co-founder. Schedule a coupon and an announcement bar with a start and an end; the store switches them on and off itself. Bloom can set one up when you ask. |
Also live today on the AI Co-founder plan: AI product photos and ad creatives (the creative studio), Instagram carousels, a Meta ad-campaign planner, a store-wide SEO audit, a retargeting kit with Meta and Google product feeds, broadcasts to subscribers and past buyers (email, and WhatsApp through an approved template), a storefront assistant that answers shoppers from your catalogue, and a Monday digest of what worked. Still not live: WhatsApp auto-replies and AI video. We would rather list them here than have you find out after paying.
So the honest count is six of six on the AI Co-founder plan, with two footnotes: WhatsApp auto-replies are not there, and broadcasts are sent from the dashboard, not from your WhatsApp inbox. For how that compares, read the Alippo comparison.
A realistic week with an AI co-founder
The ads show a store running itself. The useful version is smaller: about fifteen minutes a day where the AI has already done the reading and drafting, and you decide. Here is what that week looks like on a SitesPlaced store on the AI Co-founder plan.
- Monday — the numbers. Ask Ledger "how did my store do last week?" It answers from real data: visits, orders, conversion, top products, where visitors came from and where they dropped off. If it sees plenty of product-page visits and very few orders, it says so and suggests the first thing to check — a price, a missing size, a slow checkout. It will not tell you a number it did not read, and if the data is too thin it says that plainly.
- Tuesday — product copy. Pick the three products Ledger flagged as most-viewed but least-bought and ask Bloom to rewrite their descriptions. Read each Apply card. Approve the ones that sound like you; edit the ones that don't. Ten minutes, three better product pages.
- Wednesday — the WhatsApp broadcast. Ask Bloom for a broadcast announcing the weekend offer, in your tone, with the product names and prices from your store. Copy it into your WhatsApp Business broadcast list and send it. (SitesPlaced writes it; you send it. That is deliberate — nothing reaches your customers without passing through you.)
- Thursday — Google. Ask Beacon to write titles and descriptions for the products you added this month, and ask it plainly whether your store is indexed. Approve the cards. This is the job most small sellers never get to, and it compounds.
- Friday — the festival plan. Six weeks before Diwali or Raksha Bandhan, ask Bloom for a campaign plan: which products to bundle, what to post each week, the broadcast schedule — or open the campaign planner in the AI Co-founder tab, which builds a 7-day plan from your best-sellers with the broadcast and captions already written, and make the festival banner in the creative studio from one product photo. Then ask Brix to change the announcement bar for the first week of it. Set the coupon yourself in the dashboard.
Notice what is missing from that week: nothing happened while you slept. Every change was one you approved. That is less exciting than the reels and much easier to trust.
What to watch out for
AI that invents numbers
A general-purpose AI asked "how are my sales?" will happily produce a confident paragraph with no data behind it. Before trusting any AI co-founder's numbers, ask where they came from. Ledger is built to only report figures it actually read from your store's orders and visits; if it does not have the data, it says so rather than guessing.
Changes applied without your approval
"Runs your store while you sleep" also means "changes your prices while you sleep". Ask any product you are considering: can it change my store without me pressing something? On SitesPlaced the answer is no. Every write — a headline, a product, a title tag — is an Apply card. Nothing changes until you approve it, and every action has a published credit price shown before it runs — with failed generations refunded — so an agent cannot run away with a bill.
Per-store AI plans of ₹1,900 to ₹19,000 a month
Some AI store builders price the AI by 'capacity' and bill it per store, with entry plans around ₹1,900/month and top plans near ₹19,000/month — Alippo's pricing page listed ₹1,900, ₹5,700 and ₹19,000 in September 2026, for example. Read what 'capacity' means before you buy; usually it is a metered budget that runs out faster the more you ask. On SitesPlaced the AI Co-founder plan is ₹1,499/month with the Growth plan included and a fixed 1,500 AI credits a month; every action has a published credit price (an agent message 1, a campaign plan or SEO audit 5, an image 2 to 45 by quality, a carousel slide 12), top-ups are optional and never expire while you subscribe, and there is no tier ladder.
One more: an AI co-founder is not customer service. The SitesPlaced storefront assistant is deliberately narrow — it answers from your catalogue and policies, never invents delivery dates or discounts, and hands off to your WhatsApp when unsure — and you can switch it off. Be cautious of any tool that promises more: a wrong answer about refunds is your problem, not the AI's.
How to get it (the AI Co-founder plan)
The whole SitesPlaced AI team — plus the campaign planner, creative studio, carousels, SEO audit and retargeting kit — comes with the SitesPlaced AI Co-founder plan: ₹1,499/month (₹14,990/year, two months free; $29.99/month outside India). It includes everything in the ₹499 Growth plan, so it is a superset, not an add-on, and it comes with 1,500 AI credits every month (1 credit = ₹1). Any store owner can subscribe; sellers from the early-access testing group keep the agents.
- Publish your store — free, with 0% commission, on yourname.sitesplaced.site. Import your catalogue from Instagram, an existing website or a PDF at /import if you have one.
- If you only want your own domain and the sales boosters, the Growth plan at /pricing is ₹499/month early-bird, rising to ₹999 ($14.99 outside India): domain, badge removal, sales boosters, product reviews, analytics, Meta Pixel and Conversions API, WhatsApp Business API order alerts and a dedicated setup person. Every new account has these features free for 14 days with no card.
- When you want the AI team, go to /pricing#ai-cofounder or the upgrade prompt in your dashboard and take the AI Co-founder plan — payment happens in place (Razorpay in India, Dodo abroad) and the agents and the AI Co-founder tab open straight away. The full tour is at /ai-cofounder. Questions? Message us on WhatsApp or email admin@sitesplaced.com.
The credit cost is shown before every action and failed generations are refunded. If 1,500 credits run out, top-up packs start at ₹499 for 500 credits and never expire while you are subscribed. Tell us which of the six jobs you need most; that is how the roadmap gets ordered.
FAQs
Is an AI co-founder the same as using ChatGPT for my store?
No. ChatGPT gives general answers and cannot see your store. An AI co-founder works from your actual products, orders and visitors, and makes the change for you rather than describing it. SitesPlaced's four agents read your live store data; Ledger, for example, answers 'how did I do this week?' from your real orders and visits, not from a guess.
Does the AI change my store without asking?
On SitesPlaced, never. Every change any agent wants to make — a headline, a product, a meta description — arrives as an Apply card. You read it and press Apply; nothing changes until you do. The credit cost of every action is shown before it runs. Ask the same question of any other tool before you trust it.
Can the AI send WhatsApp messages to my customers?
Yes, in two cases, and only if you connect the WhatsApp Cloud API in Settings → Integrations: abandoned-cart reminders and broadcasts go out through Meta-approved marketing templates with an opt-out line, and a shopper who replies STOP is never messaged again. Without the Cloud API, reminders and broadcasts go by email, and Bloom still writes the WhatsApp copy for you to send yourself. Replying to messages that arrive on your WhatsApp is not automated.
How much does an AI co-founder cost in India?
It varies widely. Some AI store builders bill per store with metered AI capacity, from roughly ₹1,900/month at entry up to about ₹19,000/month at the top, as listed in September 2026. On SitesPlaced the AI Co-founder plan is ₹1,499/month (₹14,990/year; $29.99/month outside India), includes everything in the ₹499 Growth plan, and comes with 1,500 AI credits a month at published per-action prices — an agent message 1 credit, a campaign plan 5, an image 2 to 45 — with top-ups from ₹499 if you need more.
Which plan do I need for the SitesPlaced AI team?
The SitesPlaced AI Co-founder plan, ₹1,499/month. It includes everything in the ₹499 Growth plan — domain, sales boosters, reviews, analytics, setup person — so you do not need both, and sellers on the Growth plan who upgrade keep everything they have. Subscribe from the pricing page or the upgrade prompt in the dashboard; sellers from the early-access testing group keep the agents. The free plan still publishes a complete store with 0% commission, but the agents are not part of it.
Will the AI make up sales numbers?
Ledger is built not to. It only reports figures it actually read from your store — orders, visits, best-sellers, funnel steps — and says when it does not have the data. If any AI tool gives you a confident sales figure, ask it where the number came from before you act on it.
