Which website template will actually increase my sales? An honest answer for every kind of shop.

The one built for how your buyer decides. A template cannot bring you visitors, but it decides how many of the people you already reach end up paying. For a clothing shop that means sizes on the product card; for jewellery, shopping by price; for a furniture shop, a phone call one tap away. Here is the answer for every kind of shop, and the things no template can fix.

The short answer

Key takeaway

Pick the template that answers your buyer’s first question before they have to ask it, and that removes taps between “I want this” and paying. A prettier template does not sell more by itself. A clearer one does, and only for people who were already on your store.

On SitesPlaced that means the free template for your genre: eleven are laid out like leading Indian D2C brands in the same genre, so your buyers already know how to shop them. The table further down gives the pick for every kind of shop.

What a template can do for your sales

  1. Answer the first question on the card. Is my size there? How big is the pack? What colours does it come in? Every question a buyer has to tap or message to answer is a place where some of them stop.
  2. Cut the taps to buy. Add to cart from the product card, and a buy button that stays on screen on phones as the shopper scrolls down a long product page.
  3. Answer delivery and COD next to the button. When it will ship, what delivery costs, whether cash on delivery is available and your returns rule, before anyone has to ask.
  4. Show proof that is real. Bestseller rows ranked from your real orders, and star ratings on cards once real buyers have reviewed.
  5. Keep writing out of the way. Buyers scroll past paragraphs about your brand. A layout that fills itself from your products puts them in front of people instead.

On SitesPlaced, the first four are built into the eleven brand-style templates, free on every plan. Star ratings need reviews, which are on the Growth plan.

What no template can do

  • Bring you visitors. Traffic comes from your posts, reels, WhatsApp, ads and word of mouth. If nobody is arriving, see how to increase Instagram store sales.
  • Fix unclear photos. A dark, blurry photo loses the sale on any layout. Clean phone photos in daylight on a plain background are enough.
  • Fix a price people will not pay, or delivery charges that only appear at checkout.
  • Reply to messages for you. If buyers still have to DM you to ask the price, the store is not doing its job yet. Put the answer on the page.
  • Create trust overnight. Reviews come from orders, so they take time. Start collecting from your first buyers.

If your store gets visitors but no orders, work through why your online store is not getting sales before changing anything else.

What we learned from our own stores

Until September 2026, SitesPlaced offered thirteen decorated single-niche templates, one each for sarees, florists, chocolate, coffee and so on. When we looked at real shops built on them, two problems kept coming up:

  • Most of their sections held writing, not products. A home page with one product row and a dozen story blocks gives the buyer little to tap.
  • Sellers rarely rewrite sample text. We found the same sample sentences live on many different shops, word for word. A template that needs you to write a lot usually ends up saying something generic.

So new stores now start on templates built to five rules: no section that only holds writing, every section fills from your store or hides, no sample sentences, no made-up numbers, and one banner photo as the only thing you must add.

The eleven brand-style templates are laid out like Jnorss, Neeman’s, Bella Vita, Power Gummies, GIVA, Troost, The Sleep Company, Chumbak, boAt, The Whole Truth and Heads Up For Tails; those brands are not involved with SitesPlaced. How each handles COD, UPI and WhatsApp is in the best ecommerce website templates for India.

Is your template the problem? A quick test

Look at where people stop, then fix that step. On SitesPlaced, store analytics on the Starter plan (₹199/month) shows visitors, how many viewed a product and how many bought.

  1. Few visitors. Not a template problem. Work on reaching people: posts, reels, WhatsApp status, the link in your bio.
  2. Visitors, but few look at a product. The home page is not showing products fast enough. Put a bestseller row near the top and cut story sections.
  3. Product views, but few orders. The product page is leaving questions open. Check photos, sizes or packs, the price against the MRP, and the delivery and COD line.
  4. The product page looks right, but orders still do not come. Look at checkout: a surprise delivery charge, no COD, or only one way to pay. Place a test order on your own phone to see exactly what your buyers see.

Most of these fixes are settings, not a new template. On the brand-style templates, switch on quick add, the buy bar and the delivery line in Settings → Sales boosters; fill in your delivery and COD settings, and tick the coupon codes you want shown. Change the template only if it was built for a different kind of product; in the dashboard that means creating a new store, because a store’s template is chosen when it is created.

FAQs

Which website template increases sales the most?

The one made for how your buyer decides, not the prettiest one. A clothing buyer wants to see sizes on the card, a jewellery buyer wants to shop by price, a food buyer wants pack sizes, and someone buying a mattress wants to call you first. On SitesPlaced each of these has its own free template, laid out like a leading Indian D2C brand in that genre, and the General Store covers anything else.

Will changing my website template increase my sales?

Only if your current template makes buyers work to find answers: sizes, delivery, COD, the real price. If people are not visiting at all, a new template will not help. Before switching, fill in your delivery and COD settings, show your coupon codes and, on SitesPlaced’s brand-style templates, turn on the free selling tools (quick add, the buy bar on phones and the delivery and COD line), then see whether orders move.

Does a better-looking template sell more?

Not by itself. What sells is clarity: the answer to the buyer’s first question on the card, few taps to buy and delivery details next to the button. A template full of writing gives the buyer little to tap, which is why SitesPlaced’s newer templates fill themselves from your products instead.

What should a product page have to increase sales?

Clear photos, the price with the MRP struck through when there is a discount, sizes or packs as options, a buy button that stays in reach on phones, a line saying when it ships and whether cash on delivery is available, your returns promise, any coupon code you are running, and real reviews once you have them.

Is a free template worse for sales than a paid one?

No. What matters for sales is what the template does, not what it cost. SitesPlaced’s templates are all free, and the eleven brand-style ones include quick add, a buy bar on phones, the delivery and COD line and coupon codes on the product page, the kind of features paid themes elsewhere often advertise. See our comparison of free vs paid store templates.

Why is my store getting visitors but no sales?

Usually because the product page leaves a question open (size, delivery time, COD, the final price) or checkout springs a surprise such as a delivery charge. Check each step where people stop, fix the page or setting behind it, and make sure the buyer never has to message you to find something out.

Start on the template made for how your buyers decide.
