Inventory Management for Small Sellers
Overselling kills trust. When you sell on Instagram and DMs, keeping stock in your head or in a spreadsheet doesn't scale. Here's how simple inventory management helps you never oversell again.
Inventory management for small sellers means tracking how many units of each product (and variant) you have, and automatically hiding or marking "out of stock" when quantity hits zero. On SitesPlaced you set stock per product (or per variant). When an order is placed, stock decreases. When it reaches zero, customers can't add that item to cart — so you never promise what you don't have.
What you get with inventory on SitesPlaced
- • Stock per product/variant — Set quantity for each SKU; optional variants (size, color) can have their own stock.
- • Auto-deduction — When an order is confirmed, stock is reduced so your numbers stay accurate.
- • Out-of-stock handling — Product can be hidden or shown as "Out of stock" so customers don't order it.
- • Low-stock awareness — You can see which products are running low and reorder in time.
Why it matters for Instagram sellers
Selling via DMs and WhatsApp means orders can pour in fast. Without inventory tracking you might accept 10 orders for an item you only have 3 of. That leads to refunds, bad reviews, and lost trust. Even a simple system — a store builder for small sellers that deducts stock and blocks orders when empty — saves you from that.
