WhatsApp checkout, with the order saved first.
The customer fills the normal checkout, the order lands in your Orders tab, and WhatsApp opens with a pre-filled message listing every item, the address and the total. No more orders lost in DMs.

WhatsApp checkout is a built-in order method on every SitesPlaced store (free plan). The customer completes the checkout form, the order is recorded in your dashboard, and then wa.me opens to your WhatsApp number with a message that already contains their name, phone, address, each item with variant and quantity, discounts, delivery and the total. You set the number under Settings → Store details and choose whether WhatsApp is the default or an option under Settings → Checkout → Order methods.

What WhatsApp checkout does on a SitesPlaced store
Order saved before the chat starts
Unlike a plain wa.me link, the order is created in your Orders tab first — with items, variants, address and totals — so nothing depends on the customer actually sending the message.
A complete pre-filled message
Name, phone, email, address, city, state, pincode, notes, each item with its variant and price, offer and coupon discounts, delivery option and the final total, plus your store link.
Default or alternative
Make WhatsApp the default method or show it next to Direct Order. You can also rename the button (Settings → Checkout → Checkout wording → WhatsApp button text).
Custom-photo products included
If a product has a custom image upload, the uploaded photo's link and the customer's note are included in the WhatsApp message.
Which plan, and what it costs
- ✓SitesPlaced: Free plan — ₹0 to publish, 0% SitesPlaced commission.
- ✓Third-party fees: None. This uses the standard wa.me link to your normal WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app — no Meta API, no per-message cost.
Full plan details are on the pricing page. Plan tags on every SitesPlaced page mirror the real entitlement gate in the product, as of August 23, 2026.
How to set up WhatsApp checkout
Where: Dashboard → your store → Settings → Store details → WhatsApp number, and Settings → Checkout → Order methods. Takes: about a minute.
Add your WhatsApp number
Settings → Store details → WhatsApp number. Include the country code, for example 91 for India. This is the number the chat opens to.
Choose how WhatsApp appears at checkout
Settings → Checkout → Order methods. Pick Direct Order or WhatsApp as the default, and keep Show WhatsApp checkout ticked so customers can choose it.
Rename the button (optional)
Settings → Checkout → Checkout wording → WhatsApp button text, for example “Checkout on WhatsApp”.
Test it
Place an order on your live store via WhatsApp. It appears in the Orders tab as a manual-payment order and your WhatsApp opens with the pre-filled message.
Good to know
- ✓WhatsApp-checkout orders are recorded with payment method “manual”; mark them paid from the Orders tab once the customer pays.
- ✓The same WhatsApp number powers the storefront's WhatsApp contact button.
- ✓For automated confirmations from your own WhatsApp Business number (not a manual chat), see the WhatsApp Business API integration on the Ecommerce plan.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the WhatsApp Business API?
No. WhatsApp checkout opens a normal WhatsApp chat via a wa.me link with a pre-filled order message — free, no Meta setup. The WhatsApp Business API integration (Ecommerce plan) sends automated templated alerts and confirmations from your own number.
Is the order lost if the customer closes WhatsApp?
No. The order is saved in your dashboard before WhatsApp opens, with the customer's phone and address, so you can follow up.
Can customers pay on WhatsApp?
Payment is arranged in the chat (UPI, bank transfer, or COD). If you want in-store online payment, connect Razorpay — customers can then choose either.
Does it cost anything?
No. WhatsApp checkout is on the free plan with 0% SitesPlaced commission and there are no per-message charges.
