PhonePe is built into every SitesPlaced store on the free plan. You connect your own PhonePe Business account by pasting the Client ID, Client Secret and Client Version from Developer Settings. Customers pay on PhonePe's own page — UPI, cards, net banking or wallet — and every payment is re-checked with PhonePe server-side before the order is marked paid. Money settles to your PhonePe account; SitesPlaced charges 0% commission and PhonePe's own gateway fee applies.

UPI first, everything else too
PhonePe's checkout leads with UPI, which is how most Indian shoppers prefer to pay, and also takes cards, net banking and wallets. Nothing to configure at our end.
A second gateway when the first says no
Gateway onboarding turns down plenty of genuine small sellers. PhonePe approves a different set of merchants to Razorpay, so a rejection somewhere else is no longer the end of the road.
Payments verified, not assumed
We never mark an order paid from the page the customer lands back on. The payment is read back from PhonePe's own status API first, so a tampered return URL confirms nothing.
Runs alongside your other methods
PhonePe sits next to Razorpay, Cashfree, cash on delivery and WhatsApp checkout. Turn on as many as you like; the customer picks.
Which plan, and what it costs

- ✓Third-party fees: PhonePe charges its own per-transaction fee, agreed with you when your account is approved and varying by payment method. Check your PhonePe Business dashboard for your current rates.

How to set up PhonePe
Where: Dashboard → your store → Settings → Payments & invoices → PhonePe. Takes: about 10 minutes (with an approved PhonePe Business account).
Get your API keys from PhonePe
Sign in to PhonePe Business, open Developer Settings → API Keys, and copy the Client ID, Client Secret and Client Version. These are the Standard Checkout (v2) credentials — if you only have a Merchant ID and Salt Key, ask PhonePe support to issue the newer keys.
Paste them into your store
In your SitesPlaced dashboard open your store, go to Settings → Payments & invoices and paste all three into the PhonePe card. We check them against PhonePe before saving.
Add the webhook
The card shows a webhook URL, username and password. Add these in PhonePe under Developer Settings → Webhooks, choosing SHA-256 auth, and subscribe to checkout.order.completed and checkout.order.failed.
Switch it on and place a test order
Tick “Customers can pay with PhonePe”, then buy something on your live store. The order appears in the Orders tab marked paid once PhonePe confirms the payment.
Good to know
- ✓PhonePe settles in rupees only. For overseas customers paying in dollars, pounds or euros, connect Stripe or PayPal as well.
- ✓You need an approved PhonePe Business account with the payment gateway enabled. Applying is free; approval is PhonePe's decision and usually needs your business details and a bank account.
- ✓The webhook username and password are generated by us, not chosen by you. PhonePe does not sign the callback body, so that pair is the only thing authenticating it — and a memorable password would be a guessable one.
- ✓Even with the webhook, no payment is trusted on the strength of a callback. Every confirmation re-reads the order from PhonePe's status API first.
- ✓Refunds are issued from your PhonePe dashboard. Update the order status in SitesPlaced by hand so your records match.

Frequently asked questions
Is PhonePe free on SitesPlaced?
Yes. The integration is on the free plan and SitesPlaced charges 0% commission. PhonePe's own per-transaction fee still applies, as it would on any website.
Should I use PhonePe or Razorpay?
Either, or both. They cover the same payment methods, so the practical question is which one approved your business and which rates you were offered. Having both connected also means a gateway outage does not stop you taking orders.
Where does the money go?
Into the PhonePe Business account you connect, on PhonePe's normal settlement schedule. SitesPlaced never holds your funds and cannot pay itself from them.
I have a Merchant ID and a Salt Key, not a Client ID. Will those work?
No. Those are PhonePe's older v1 credentials and they will not connect here. Ask PhonePe support to move you to the Standard Checkout (v2) keys, which is what new merchants are given by default.
What happens if a customer closes the tab while paying?
The webhook catches it. PhonePe tells us the payment completed, we re-check it with PhonePe, and the order is confirmed exactly as if the customer had come back — so you still get your order email and the customer still gets their confirmation.
