The store importer at /import is free. Sources: an Instagram handle (bio, posts and products), any website or Shopify store URL (products and branding), a dm2buy store, a Shopexer store (products, prices and variants), or a PDF catalogue. Images are re-hosted on SitesPlaced, variants, stock and categories are carried across where the source has them, and you choose what to build and which of the 17 store themes to use before anything is generated. Every imported row becomes a product you can edit in the Products tab.

What Store import does on a SitesPlaced store
Instagram handle → store
Bio, profile photo, posts and product-looking posts are read from the public profile and turned into a branded store with products and copy.
Website or Shopify URL → store
Products, prices and branding are pulled from the site. Shopify stores import with their variants where the store exposes them.
dm2buy and Shopexer stores
Paste your store link. Products, prices, variants and stock are carried over so you can move without retyping the catalogue.
PDF catalogue
Upload a PDF price list or catalogue; rows and images are extracted into products. Check prices afterwards — scanned PDFs can be read imperfectly.

Building a store from an Instagram handle is not something Shopify does; on SitesPlaced it is free.

How to set up Store import
Where: sitesplaced.com/import (also the Import button in the dashboard). Takes: about a minute to import; review the products after.
Open the importer
Go to /import and pick the source tab: Instagram, Website / Shopify, DM2Buy, Shopexer or PDF / Doc.
Paste the handle, link or file
Enter your Instagram handle, the store URL, or upload the PDF. Public profiles and stores only — the importer reads what a visitor can see.
Choose what to build and a template
Pick Store (or Portfolio / Business for non-store sources) and one of the store themes. The importer generates the store with your products, branding and copy.
Review and publish
Open the Products tab, check prices, variants and stock, fix anything the source got wrong, then publish free on your sitesplaced.com link.
Good to know
- ✓Images are re-hosted on SitesPlaced so your store does not break if the source deletes them.
- ✓If a source has no price for a product, the product is imported with a zero price — set it before publishing.
- ✓Import into a fresh store and move over when it is ready — your existing store is never touched.

Frequently asked questions
Is the importer free?
Yes. Every source — Instagram, website, Shopify, dm2buy, Shopexer, PDF — is on the free plan, and the resulting store publishes free.
Does it need my Instagram password?
No. It reads the public profile only. Private accounts cannot be imported.
Will variants and stock come across?
Where the source exposes them (Shopify, dm2buy, Shopexer), yes — sizes, colours and stock counts are carried over. Instagram and PDF sources have no structured variants, so add those in the Products tab.
Can I import and keep my old store running?
Yes. The importer only reads from the source. Switch over when your SitesPlaced store is ready.
