An online ordering system for restaurants that takes 0% commission

Your menu becomes an ordering website. Customers order for delivery, pay by UPI or card into your own account, choose cash on delivery, or send the order on WhatsApp. No cut per order, on any plan.

SitesPlaced gives restaurants and cafés their own online ordering website, free and with 0% commission. Customers order from your menu, pay by UPI or card into your own Razorpay, PhonePe or Cashfree account, choose cash on delivery, or send the order on WhatsApp. You set delivery charges and can pause orders with one switch. Your own domain is from ₹199 a month.

What the commission costs you, in rupees

Restaurant associations have put the delivery apps’ commission at roughly 20–30% of each order (NRAI’s complaint to the Competition Commission of India, as reported by Moneylife). In July 2026, Bengaluru hotel associations cited 8–28% depending on the outlet and contract, plus ad spend and payment gateway fees on top (The Week, July 2026). Your rate depends on your own agreement, so check it — then do the sum.

An example, not a forecast. Commission range from NRAI’s complaint to the CCI (Moneylife); the app’s cut also pays for its riders and reach. On your own site you pay your payment gateway’s fee on online payments and your own delivery costs; cash on delivery has no gateway fee.

You don’t need to move every order to see the difference. If one in five of those 300 orders came through your own website instead, that’s 60 orders × ₹500 = ₹30,000 of food at 0% commission. At a 25% rate, that’s ₹7,500 a month that stays with you — more than three years of the ₹199 Starter plan, every month. The free plan costs nothing at all.

The apps are worth something real: their reach and their riders. The point isn’t to leave them. It’s to stop paying a commission on customers who already know you and would happily order direct.

How online ordering works on SitesPlaced today

  1. The customer opens your link

From your Instagram bio, your Google Business Profile, a WhatsApp status or a card at the counter. Your menu opens on their phone.

  2. They pick dishes

Your menu is sorted into sections — Starters, Mains, Desserts — with prices and photos. They add dishes to the cart.

  3. They check out

Name, phone and address. They see the delivery charge and any coupon discount before they pay, and pick express delivery if you offer it.

  4. They pay the way they like

UPI or card into your own Razorpay, PhonePe or Cashfree account, or cash on delivery. Or they send the whole cart to your WhatsApp as a message.

  5. You get the order

It lands in your dashboard with an email to you, under an order number you can give your own prefix, like SPICE-0001. The customer can check its status on your Track order page.

What you control

Your own payment account

UPI and cards settle into your Razorpay, PhonePe or Cashfree account. SitesPlaced never holds your money and takes 0%.

Cash on delivery

Switch COD on or off, and add a small COD charge if you want one.

WhatsApp orders

The cart arrives on your WhatsApp as a ready-made message with every dish and the total.

Delivery charges

A delivery charge, free delivery above an amount, a minimum order value, and an optional express option with its own name and fee.

Pause ordering

One switch when the kitchen is full or closed. The menu stays up, checkout stops, and your message tells customers when you’re back.

Coupons and the menu

Coupon codes on the free plan. Change prices, add specials and hide sold-out dishes from your phone.

On Growth (₹499/month) you also get WhatsApp Business API order alerts, the sales boosters, product reviews with Google stars, and a QR loyalty stamp card for regulars. Everything you need to take orders is on the free plan.

What isn’t built yet

Two things restaurants ask for aren’t built yet: QR ordering from the table (a guest scans a code at the table and the order goes to the kitchen) and a kitchen display screen or KOT printing. Guests also can’t book a table on the website yet. What you can do today is record phone, WhatsApp and walk-in table bookings in the Table bookings tab, which shows the seats taken in each time slot for the next 14 days.

If table QR ordering and a kitchen screen are what you need right now, a restaurant POS suite does that. Petpooja, for example, lists its base POS at ₹12,000 and puts QR ordering and a kitchen display in a ₹20,000 tier (ex-tax, Petpooja’s pricing page, as listed in Oct 2026). For delivery and takeaway orders on your own link, SitesPlaced is the simpler and cheaper start: free to publish, 0% commission, live the same day.

Set up your ordering website in 5 steps

  1. Add your menu

Upload a photo or PDF of your printed menu and the dishes and prices are read in for you. Check them and add photos of the best sellers.

  2. Pick a template

Start on the General Store, the Food Store, or the Grocery Store for a long delivery menu. Dedicated restaurant templates are being built.

  3. Connect payments

Link your Razorpay, PhonePe or Cashfree account for UPI and cards. Turn on cash on delivery and WhatsApp orders if you want them.

  4. Set delivery rules

Your delivery charge, free delivery above an amount, a minimum order, and an express option if you run one.

  5. Share your link

Publish free, then put the link in your Instagram bio, your Google Business Profile, your WhatsApp status and a card inside every delivery bag.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best online ordering system for a small restaurant in India?

For delivery and takeaway orders on your own link, SitesPlaced is the simplest start. Your menu becomes an ordering website; customers pay by UPI or card into your own Razorpay, PhonePe or Cashfree account, choose cash on delivery, or send the order on WhatsApp. It’s free to publish and takes 0% commission on every plan. If you need QR table ordering or a kitchen screen today, look at a restaurant POS suite instead.

Can I take online orders without paying commission?

Yes. SitesPlaced takes 0% commission on every order, on every plan, including the free one. You still pay your payment gateway’s fee on online payments (set by Razorpay, PhonePe or Cashfree, not by us) and your own delivery costs. Your own domain is ₹199 a month on Starter; the ordering itself is free.

How do customers pay, and where does the money go?

Online payments go straight into your own payment gateway account — Razorpay, PhonePe or Cashfree — and settle to your bank on that gateway’s schedule. SitesPlaced never holds your money. Customers can also pick cash on delivery, or send their order to your WhatsApp and pay you the way you already take payment.

Does SitesPlaced have QR table ordering or a kitchen display screen?

Not yet. QR ordering from the table, a kitchen display screen and KOT printing aren’t built. Guests also can’t book a table on the website yet; you record phone and walk-in bookings in the Table bookings tab. SitesPlaced today is for delivery and takeaway orders on your own website, with 0% commission.

Can I pause orders when the kitchen is busy or closed?

Yes. One switch pauses ordering. Your menu stays visible, the site tells customers that ordering is paused, and checkout stops until you switch it back. You can write your own message, such as “Kitchen closed — back at 6pm”.

Do I still need Zomato and Swiggy if I have my own ordering website?

Probably, at first. The delivery apps bring customers who have never heard of you, and their riders do the delivery. Your own website works best for people who already know you: regulars, office orders, your Instagram followers. Most restaurants run both and nudge repeat customers to order direct.

Which is better — Zomato and Swiggy, or SitesPlaced?

For reach, the delivery apps: they put you in front of new customers and bring riders. For margin, your own site: restaurants say the apps take roughly 20–30% per order (NRAI’s complaint to the Competition Commission of India, as reported by Moneylife), while SitesPlaced takes 0% and the customer’s number stays with you. Use the apps to be discovered and SitesPlaced for every order from people who already know you.

Which is better — Thrive or SitesPlaced?

Thrive is built only for restaurants and lists about 3% per delivery or takeaway order, with dine-in free (its Razorpay App Store listing, as listed in Oct 2026). That is far below an aggregator. SitesPlaced charges 0% on every order and gives you a full website for your menu, with coupons, delivery charges and a loyalty stamp card on Growth. If you want 0% commission and one website for everything, choose SitesPlaced.
