10 ways AI can boost sales for a small online store in India.
AI will not run your store for you, whatever the ads say. What it does well is the work a one-person store never gets to: writing the third product description, reading the numbers, drafting the festival message at 11 pm. This is a list of ten of those jobs, in the order a small Indian store should try them. For each one: what it is, who it helps most, one step you can do today with any AI chat, and — honestly — what is built into SitesPlaced, what comes with the AI Co-founder plan, and what is not.
1. Product copy that sells
What it is. A product page needs a title, a two-line summary, a longer description, size or material details and an answer to the question every buyer has. Most small stores have a title and a price. AI writes the rest in minutes from your notes, and it is good at the parts humans skip — the who-is-this-for line and the objection paragraph.
Who it helps. Anyone with more than twenty products, and anyone importing a catalogue from Instagram or a PDF where the 'description' is a caption with six emojis.
- Pick your five best-sellers. Copy is worth most on the pages people already visit.
- Give the AI real material. Product name, price, material, size, what buyers ask on WhatsApp, and two or three lines from real reviews. Ask for a title under 60 characters, a two-line summary, a 120-word description, and a 'good to know' list. Say: use only the facts I gave you.
- Edit for your voice, then paste. Cut anything that sounds like a brochure. Keep the buyer's words.
On SitesPlaced
The Growth plan includes AI product and store copy generation from the dashboard. On the AI Co-founder plan, Brix (the Builder) and Bloom (Growth) write and rewrite product descriptions in chat — a rewrite costs 1 credit — and every change arrives as an Apply card you approve first. The longer guide is how to write product descriptions that sell.
2. Know your best-sellers and your funnel — with real numbers
What it is. Most sellers know their best-seller by feel and are wrong about it. The other thing they do not know is where the funnel leaks: lots of visits and no product views means a homepage problem; product views and no add-to-carts means price or photos; add-to-carts and no orders means checkout. AI is useful here only if it reads your actual data and refuses to make anything up.
Who it helps. Any store with more than a hundred visits a week — enough traffic for the numbers to mean something.
- Export your last 60 days of orders. Product name, quantity, date, city. Nothing personal.
- Ask the AI three questions. Which products get the most orders (by count, not revenue)? Which cities repeat? Which products were ordered once and never again? Ask it to show the counts, not just conclusions.
- Pair it with your traffic. If you have store analytics, put visits and product views next to orders and ask where the biggest drop is between steps.
On SitesPlaced
Store analytics on the Growth plan shows visits, sources, top products and the funnel. Ledger, the Co-founder agent, reads those same real numbers — sales, visitors, conversion, best-sellers — and tells you what is working and what to do next, reporting only figures it actually read. Ledger comes with the AI Co-founder plan (₹1,499/month, Growth included, 1,500 credits a month). Read more in an AI co-founder for your online store.
3. WhatsApp broadcasts, written for you
What it is. For most small Indian stores, WhatsApp is the sales channel, and the broadcast to past buyers is the cheapest promotion there is. The hard part is not sending it, it is writing something people are glad to receive: short, personal, one product, one reason, one link. AI drafts that in your tone in seconds, and more usefully, drafts three versions so you can pick.
Who it helps. Stores with a hundred or more past customers on WhatsApp, and Meesho or Amazon sellers moving buyers to their own store.
- Choose one reason to message. Back in stock, new arrival, festival dispatch cut-off, a coupon for repeat buyers. 'Just checking in' is not a reason.
- Ask for three drafts under 60 words. Give the product, the price, the link and the reason. Ask for one plain, one warm, one Hinglish. No emojis unless you use them.
- Send from WhatsApp Business broadcast lists. Only to people who have saved your number and bought before, in batches, in the evening. One broadcast a fortnight at most.
On SitesPlaced
Bloom, the Growth agent, drafts WhatsApp broadcasts from your real products and prices on the AI Co-founder plan, and the campaign planner on the same plan writes a paste-ready broadcast and follow-up for every campaign it plans. On the AI Co-founder plan the broadcast is sent from the dashboard: Broadcasts goes to your newsletter subscribers and past buyers by email now, and on WhatsApp through a Meta-approved template once your WhatsApp Cloud API is connected — up to 2,000 recipients a send, three sends a day, and a Send to subscribers link on every campaign plan pre-fills it. Without the Cloud API you copy the draft into WhatsApp Business. The WhatsApp Business API integration on the Growth plan sends order alerts to buyers either way. 4. Instagram captions and a festival calendar
What it is. Two jobs. The daily one: a caption for the photo you just took, with a hook in the first line and a reason to tap the link. The seasonal one: a calendar of what to post and when, from Navratri through Diwali (early November in 2026), Christmas, the new year and Valentine's. AI is better at the calendar than most agencies because it does not get bored listing thirty dates.
Who it helps. Instagram-first sellers who post daily and plan never, and gifting, fashion, food and home-decor stores whose year is really eight festival weeks.
- Ask for a 10-week festival calendar. Give your product categories and your dispatch time. Ask for one post idea per week, the festival it ties to, and the last order date for guaranteed delivery. Check every date against a calendar — AI gets dates wrong.
- For today's caption. Paste what the photo shows and the product link. Ask for a first line under ten words, a two-line body, and a call to action. Then cut it by a third.
- Keep hashtags to the ones that fit. A guide to picking them: best Instagram hashtags for online stores.
On SitesPlaced
Bloom drafts Instagram captions and festival campaign plans from your product data on the AI Co-founder plan, and the Carousels tool next to it turns a topic into 3–7 rendered slides with the caption and hashtags written (12 credits a slide). Posting to Instagram is still you. Scheduled promotions are live on the same plan: a coupon and an announcement bar with a start and an end time that switch themselves on and off, and Bloom can set one up when asked. There is a full guide to the calendar itself: how to create an Instagram content calendar.
5. SEO titles and descriptions that Google actually shows
What it is. Every product and collection page has a title tag and a meta description that appear in Google results. Most small stores leave them as the product name. A title that says what the product is, who it is for and where it ships from gets found for the searches people actually type — "cotton kurta set for women Jaipur" — and a description that answers the buyer's question gets the click.
Who it helps. Stores that want sales without paying for every visit, and anyone selling something people search for by name — sarees, ghee, terracotta planters, wedding invitations.
- List ten products and what a buyer would type. Not what you call it — what they call it. Ask the AI for five search phrases per product and pick the ones you would type.
- Ask for a title under 60 characters and a description under 155. Give the phrase, the price and the delivery region. Reject anything generic; the description should be true of this product only.
- Paste, publish, then check Search Console in three weeks. SEO is slow. Do not change the titles again for a month.
On SitesPlaced
Beacon, the SEO agent, writes titles, descriptions and keywords for your pages and advises on indexing, as Apply cards you approve — on the AI Co-founder plan, which also has a store-wide SEO audit: a score, the buyer keywords to target, a store title and description rewrite, and a meta description for every product, 5 credits a run. Read an AI SEO assistant for a small business.
6. Better product photos
What it is. The product photo does most of the selling. AI tools can remove a messy background, put the product on a clean white or coloured surface, brighten a dim shot and generate lifestyle backgrounds. Used carefully they make a phone photo look like a catalogue photo.
Who it helps. Everyone, and especially sellers whose product photos were taken on a bed for an Instagram story.
The one rule
Never let AI change the product itself — its colour, shape, size, finish or what is included. A photo that oversells is a return, a bad review and, in India, a misleading-advertisement problem. Backgrounds and light, yes. The product, no.
- Reshoot in daylight, near a window, on a plain surface. AI cleans a good photo well and a bad photo badly.
- Use a background-removal or background-replacement tool. Keep the product pixels untouched. One consistent background across the whole catalogue looks more professional than ten beautiful different ones.
- Export square for the listing and 4:5 for Instagram. The photo guide is how to take better product photos.
On SitesPlaced
The creative studio on the AI Co-founder plan generates them from inside the dashboard: one phone photo in, and out come a studio packshot, a lifestyle scene, a hand-held UGC shot, a flat lay, an offer poster or a festival sale banner — 12 styles, 5 sizes, 4 quality tiers from a 2-credit draft to a 45-credit ultra image. It keeps the product identical to your photo, renders your headline and offer on the image, and can attach the result to the product gallery or set it as the cover. The one rule above still applies: check every image against the real product. The full guide is AI product photos for small businesses.
7. Bundles and upsells
What it is. The cheapest sale is a bigger order from a customer already buying. A 'frequently bought together' pair, a cart upsell ("add the matching dupatta for ₹299"), a post-purchase offer on the thank-you page, or Buy 2 Get 1. AI's part is small but real: finding the pairs in your order history that you would not have guessed.
Who it helps. Stores with a catalogue where things go together — fashion, skincare, food, stationery, puja items — and any store whose average order is under ₹700.
- Paste your last 100 orders as product names only. One order per line. Ask the AI which pairs and trios repeat, with counts.
- Pick three pairs and price the bundle honestly. A small saving, clearly shown. Buyers can add up.
- Put the offer where the decision happens. On the product page for the pair, in the cart for the add-on, on the thank-you page for the second order.
On SitesPlaced
The sales boosters — cart upsells, frequently-bought-together, post-purchase upsell, Buy-X-Get-Y, social-proof and welcome popups, and the WhatsApp bubble — are built into the Growth plan (and so into the AI Co-founder plan, which includes it) and switch on from the dashboard without an app. The free plan keeps coupons and the free-shipping bar. Every new account gets the Growth plan free for 14 days, no card, so you can test a bundle before you pay.
8. Reviews on the product page — and stars in Google
What it is. A product with three honest reviews outsells the same product with none, and a product page whose reviews are in its structured data can show a star rating in Google results. AI helps in two places: drafting the review request so it gets answered, and drafting your public reply to the 3-star review you have been avoiding.
Who it helps. Everyone selling to strangers, and especially Instagram sellers whose proof lives in WhatsApp screenshots nobody else can see.
- Ask for a review request under 40 words. For WhatsApp, sent one to three days after delivery, with the buyer's name and the product. One message only. No discount for the review — that is against Google's guidelines.
- Paste any review under four stars and ask for a reply. Brief, public, no excuses, what you changed. Then edit it so it sounds like you.
- Mine the reviews for copy. Ask the AI to pull the phrases buyers repeat — "fits a size M", "reached Guwahati in four days" — and put them in the product description.
On SitesPlaced
Product reviews are built into the Growth plan: a review email when an order is marked delivered, a copy-and-paste review link for WhatsApp buyers, verified-purchase badges, approval before anything shows, and the rating in the product page's structured data automatically. Reviews from Judge.me import with one API token. The step-by-step is how to collect product reviews and how to get Google star ratings.
9. Recover abandoned carts
What it is. Most people who add to cart leave without paying. A message an hour later — "still want the kurta? here is the link, COD available" — brings a share of them back. AI writes that message well. The harder part is knowing who left, which needs a checkout that captures the buyer's phone before the payment step.
Who it helps. Any store getting more add-to-carts than orders, which is every store; the more traffic you buy with ads, the more this matters.
- Ask the AI for a one-line recovery message. Product name, link, delivery time, COD if you offer it. Warm, not pushy. One message, then leave them alone.
- Send it manually today. To the buyers you already know left — the WhatsApp-checkout conversations that went quiet, the DMs that asked about size and stopped.
- Fix the reason they left. Ask the AI to review your checkout page as a first-time buyer and list what would make it hesitate. Delivery time missing and no COD are the usual answers.
On SitesPlaced
Shiprocket's 1-click checkout on the Growth plan captures abandoned checkouts so you can follow them up, and carries your coupons into the checkout. Store-native abandoned-cart reminders are on the AI Co-founder plan: a buyer who typed an email or phone number at the cart and left gets a saved-cart email after 1 hour and again after 24 hours, and a WhatsApp message through a Meta-approved marketing template when your WhatsApp Cloud API is connected; one tap restores the cart, and every message carries an unsubscribe. The honest state of the whole topic is in abandoned cart recovery for a small online store; the checkout guide is how to add Shiprocket checkout to your store.
10. Ads that count real orders — with Pixel and Conversions API
What it is. The first real budget most small stores put into growth is Instagram ads. AI helps write the five hook angles and the script for a phone video. But the thing that decides whether ads work is measurement: a browser pixel alone misses sales, so you turn off ads that were working. The Conversions API sends the Purchase from your store's server, and deduplication stops one order being counted twice.
Who it helps. Stores with a product that already sells and a margin that can carry a ₹300-a-day test. Not stores that have never had an order from a stranger.
- Work out your break-even ROAS first. Selling price divided by profit per order before ads. Judge every ad against that, not an internet benchmark.
- Ask the AI for five hooks. One per angle: problem → relief, price reveal, occasion or gift, what's inside, the objection answered. Feed it real reviews and forbid invented claims.
- Run one ad set for seven days with kill and scale rules. The full plan, with the prompt and the day-by-day table, is plan your first Meta ads campaign with AI.
On SitesPlaced
Meta Pixel + Conversions API is built into the Growth plan: paste your Pixel ID and token once, the pixel loads natively on the live store, and the Purchase is sent server-side from the order record with the order ID as the event ID, deduplicated against the browser event. On the AI Co-founder plan, the campaign planner turns a goal and a daily budget into product picks from your real best-sellers, break-even ROAS, five hooks, an audience plan and a 7-day schedule with kill and scale rules (5 credits a plan), and the retargeting kit adds a Pixel and Conversions API checklist plus product feeds for Meta Catalog and Google Merchant Center. How to get the AI team (the AI Co-founder plan)
The whole SitesPlaced AI team — Brix the Builder, Ledger the Co-founder, Bloom for Growth and Beacon for SEO — plus the campaign planner, creative studio, carousels, SEO audit and retargeting kit comes with the SitesPlaced AI Co-founder plan: ₹1,499/month (₹14,990/year, two months free; $29.99/month outside India). It includes everything in the ₹499 Growth plan, so it is a superset, not an add-on, and it comes with 1,500 AI credits every month (1 credit = ₹1). The credit cost shows before every action, failed generations are refunded, and top-ups start at ₹499 for 500 credits.
- Build your store on the free plan (unlimited products and orders, 0% commission). If you only want your own domain and the sales boosters, the Growth plan is ₹499 a month early-bird, rising to ₹999, or $14.99 outside India — and every new account gets its features free for 14 days with no card.
- When you want the AI team, take the AI Co-founder plan from /pricing#ai-cofounder or the upgrade prompt in your dashboard. Payment happens in place — Razorpay in India, Dodo abroad. Sellers from the early-access testing group keep their access.
- The agents and the AI Co-founder tab appear in your dashboard straight away; every change they propose is an Apply card you approve, and nothing changes on your store without your yes. The full tour is at /ai-cofounder; questions go to WhatsApp or admin@sitesplaced.com.
What the AI does today is above. What it does not do yet — reply to messages that arrive on your WhatsApp number, make video, or post to Instagram for you — is not live, and we would rather say that plainly than have you find out.
FAQs
Is the AI free on SitesPlaced?
No. The AI team, campaign planner, creative studio, carousels, SEO audit and retargeting kit come with the SitesPlaced AI Co-founder plan at ₹1,499/month ($29.99/month outside India), which includes everything in the ₹499 Growth plan plus 1,500 AI credits a month at published per-action prices. It is not part of the free store plan, the ₹199 Starter plan or the plain Growth plan. Subscribe from the pricing page or the upgrade prompt in your dashboard.
Will the AI change my store without asking?
No. Every write an agent proposes — a rewritten description, a new product, a changed announcement bar — arrives as an Apply card that you approve or reject. Nothing changes without your approval. Ledger, the Co-founder agent, only reports numbers it actually read from your store.
Which of these ten work on the free plan?
Every 'do it today' step works with any AI chat and a free SitesPlaced store — copy, captions, WhatsApp drafts, SEO titles, photo cleanup with a general tool, manual cart follow-up. The built-in pieces — store analytics, sales boosters, product reviews, Meta Pixel + Conversions API and Shiprocket 1-click checkout — are on the Growth plan; the AI team, creative studio, campaign planner and SEO audit are on the AI Co-founder plan, which includes Growth.
Can the AI write in Hindi or Hinglish?
Yes. Any modern AI chat writes Hinglish well if you ask for it and paste a few lines of how your buyers actually talk. Bloom drafts in the tone you ask for. Always read it aloud once before sending — tone slips are easier to hear than to see.
Does SitesPlaced send the WhatsApp broadcasts or reminders for me?
On the AI Co-founder plan, yes. Broadcasts are sent from the dashboard to your newsletter subscribers and past buyers — by email now, and on WhatsApp through a Meta-approved template once your WhatsApp Cloud API is connected — up to 2,000 recipients a send and three sends a day. Abandoned-cart reminders go out on their own: an email after 1 hour and again after 24 hours, plus a WhatsApp message through an approved template when the Cloud API is connected, each with a one-tap link that restores the cart. The WhatsApp Business API integration on the Growth plan sends order alerts to buyers on its own.
What is on the roadmap and not live yet?
WhatsApp auto-replies to messages that arrive on your own WhatsApp number, AI video, and posting to Instagram for you. Live on the AI Co-founder plan: AI product photos and ad creatives, carousels, the ad-campaign planner, the store-wide SEO audit, product feeds for Meta and Google catalogues, abandoned-cart reminders by email and WhatsApp, scheduled promotions, broadcasts sent from the dashboard, a storefront assistant that answers shoppers' size, delivery and policy questions from your own catalogue (off by default, 1 credit per shopper message), and a Monday digest email with the week's numbers and five suggestions. We say 'roadmap' when it is planned and 'built in' only when you can switch it on today.
