A homestay website builder that takes bookings

Most homestay websites are a brochure with a phone number. This one shows your rooms properly, lets guests pick dates and see the full price, and sends the booking to your phone. Free, with 0% commission.

What’s on a homestay website built with SitesPlaced?

The Homestay & Stays template is laid out the way guests decide: photos first, then rooms and price, then the practical questions they would otherwise ask you on WhatsApp.

  • ✓A big photo first, with your name, your area and a Check availability button.
  • ✓A rooms list, then a page for each room with photos, beds, how many people it sleeps and its amenities.
  • ✓An “At a glance” box: check-in and check-out times, how guests pay, and your cancellation policy.
  • ✓A meals menu, so guests know whether breakfast or dinner is cooked in.
  • ✓Places nearby, and “Getting here” rows with distances and a Google Maps button, handy when the last stretch is a mountain road.
  • ✓A gallery and your house rules.
  • ✓WhatsApp chat buttons, so a guest with a question reaches you in one tap.

Homestay website design: what makes a guest book

Good homestay website design isn’t about fancy effects. It’s about answering a guest’s questions in the order they ask them, on a phone, before they lose interest.

Show the room, not just the view

Guests book a room. Clear photos of the bed, the bathroom and the window matter as much as the valley or the beach.

Put the price before the button

Show the total for the stay, GST included, before the guest taps book. A surprise at the last step is where bookings get abandoned.

Answer the WhatsApp questions on the page

Check-in time, meals, how to pay, cancellation, how far the bus stand is. The At a glance box and Getting here rows hold all of it.

Keep it fast on a phone

Many guests will find you on a phone, sometimes on weak mobile data in the hills. SitesPlaced pages are built to load fast.

Build your homestay website in six steps

  1. Start with the Homestay & Stays template

Create a free account and pick the template. You get a complete site with sample rooms to replace with your own.

  2. Add your rooms

Photos, beds, how many people each room sleeps, amenities, and a weekday and weekend price.

  3. Set your seasons and rules

Season or festival prices for date ranges (Christmas to New Year, say, or Diwali week), minimum nights, closed dates, and extra adult or child charges.

  4. Choose how you take bookings

Confirm each request yourself, with the rooms held for the hours you choose, or confirm instantly. Then pick how guests pay: at the property, a deposit first, or in full first.

  5. Fill in your venue details

Address, Google Maps link, check-in and check-out times, cancellation policy, house rules, getting-here rows, places nearby and GST.

  6. Publish and share one link

Put it in your Instagram bio, your WhatsApp Business profile and your Google Business Profile. It’s free on a sitesplaced.com address, or on your own domain from ₹199 a month.

After you publish: one calendar for every booking

The website is half of it. The other half is the dashboard where bookings land, from your site and from everywhere else.

  • ✓Today: requests to confirm, arrivals, departures, who’s staying, tonight’s occupancy and money in today.
  • ✓Calendar: rooms by dates. Add a phone, WhatsApp, walk-in, Airbnb or Booking.com booking by hand, or close a room for repairs.
  • ✓Bookings: confirm, check in (ID type and last four digits only), record cash, UPI, card or bank payments and refunds, see the bill night by night with GST, and check out.
  • ✓An email and a push notification on the SitesPlaced phone app for every new booking.
  • ✓A reminder at check-in for foreign guests: Form C (now Form-III) must be filed on indianfrro.gov.in within 24 hours.

Because each room-night can be sold only once, a night you have filled by hand can’t be booked again on your site. Google can read your rooms and prices too: the site publishes structured data and a sitemap with every room page.

How each route typically works for small stays in India, October 2026.

The honest gaps first: SitesPlaced doesn’t sync with Airbnb or Booking.com automatically yet, and guests can’t pay online on the booking page, so you collect any deposit by UPI or bank transfer after confirming. For a homestay with a handful of rooms, that’s a few minutes a day.

Keep your listings for new guests, and let your own site take everyone who already knows your name: the family who came last winter, the couple who found you on Instagram, the traveller who searched your village on Google Maps. That’s the job SitesPlaced is built for, and it costs nothing to start. See how it fits with the rest of SitesPlaced Hospitality.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a website for my homestay?

Use a builder made for stays so you don’t start from a blank page. On SitesPlaced, pick the Homestay & Stays template, add your rooms with photos, beds and prices, set your check-in times, policies and getting-here details, choose how you take bookings, and publish. Guests can then pick dates and book on the site, and every booking lands in your dashboard.

How much does a homestay website cost in India?

On SitesPlaced it’s ₹0 to build and publish, with the booking engine, unlimited bookings and 0% commission included, on a free sitesplaced.com address with a small badge. Your own domain (like yourhomestay.com) with the badge removed is ₹199 a month on the Starter plan. A custom site from an agency or freelancer is a one-off fee you agree with them, plus hosting and any booking engine they add.

Can guests book directly on my homestay website?

Yes. Guests pick dates on a calendar that shows each night’s price and greys out full nights, choose guests, see every room with the total for the stay including GST, and enter their name and phone. They’re booked straight away, or they see “request sent” if you confirm each booking yourself. Payment is at the property, or a deposit or full payment you collect by UPI or bank transfer after confirming; there’s no online card payment on the booking page yet.

Can I use my own domain for my homestay website?

Yes, on the Starter plan (₹199 a month), which also removes the “Made with SitesPlaced” badge and adds visitor analytics, Meta Pixel and AI copy. On the Free plan your site lives on a free sitesplaced.com address.

Do I need GST registration to take bookings?

No. If you’re not registered, the site shows prices without GST. If you are, turn GST on and it’s added for you: 5% on rooms up to ₹7,500 a night and 18% above, the rates in force since 22 September 2025. Ask your accountant whether your homestay needs to register.

Can I keep Airbnb and Booking.com bookings in the same calendar?

Yes, by adding them by hand. There’s no automatic sync with Airbnb, Booking.com or MakeMyTrip yet, so when a booking arrives from one of them you add it in the Calendar, the same way you add phone, WhatsApp and walk-in bookings. Each room-night can only be sold once, so your site won’t sell a night that’s already taken.

Which is better — Airbnb or my own homestay website on SitesPlaced?

Airbnb is better at finding guests who have never heard of you, which is why many hosts keep a listing. Your own SitesPlaced site is better for everyone else: returning guests, Instagram followers and people who find you on Google Maps book with you directly, you keep their phone number, and you pay no commission. Running both from one calendar gets you the best of each, and the website costs nothing to start.
