Best online store builders for increasing sales in 2026 — judged on what is built in, not bolted on

A store builder cannot bring you customers. What it can do is make each order a little bigger and bring the same buyer back, and the tools that do that are well known: an upsell in the cart, a bundle on the product page, a buy-two-get-one offer, real reviews with stars in Google, a stamp card, an order confirmation on WhatsApp. The question is which builders include them, and which make you buy them one app at a time. This is that comparison, for Indian sellers, as of September 2026.

Our pick for a small Indian store is SitesPlaced. The store is free to publish with 0% commission, and the selling tools sit on two flat plans: Starter (₹199/month) for store analytics, Meta Pixel with the Conversions API and store pages that answer about 4× faster; Growth (₹499/month) for cart upsells, frequently bought together, post-purchase offers, Buy X Get Y, verified reviews with Google star ratings, the loyalty programme and WhatsApp order alerts from your own number. Cart reminders are the one tool on this list that needs the AI Co-founder plan (₹1,499/month). Shopify has all of these too, but on Shopify most of them are apps with their own bills. If you need a marketplace’s built-in traffic, a large team, or international selling at scale, read the “who should not pick SitesPlaced” section before you decide.

TL;DR

  • • Best overall for a small Indian store: SitesPlaced. Free to publish, 0% commission, the growth tools on ₹499/month, and store pages that answer about 4× faster on every paid plan.
  • • Best if you are scaling internationally with a developer: Shopify. Every tool exists, mostly as paid apps, on a plan that starts near ₹1,994/month in India (September 2026 comparison prices).
  • • Best for layout control and templates: Wix or Squarespace. General website builders with a store add-on; check which selling tools each plan includes.
  • • Best for automation from day one: Alippo. Cart recovery and promotions handled for you, from about ₹1,900/month per store.
  • • Watch for: per-order fees (Dukaan, StoreBase), a trial that needs a UPI mandate (WSTORES), and free plans that cannot push an order to a courier.

How we judged

We asked one question of each builder: which of the eleven tools below are part of the plan you pay for, and which are extras you buy separately? “Extras” means an app from an app store, a third-party subscription, or a feature that only exists on a much higher tier. We did not score design, templates or the checkout basics (UPI, cash on delivery, WhatsApp checkout), because those are covered in the best ecommerce website builder in India and Indian online store builders compared.

The eleven tools fall into three groups. Four raise the value of an order that is already happening: cart upsells, frequently bought together, post-purchase offers and Buy X Get Y. Four bring a buyer back or win the next buyer’s trust: reviews with Google stars, loyalty stamp cards, WhatsApp order alerts and abandoned-cart reminders. Three stop the leaks you cannot see: store analytics, Meta Pixel with the Conversions API, and page speed.

For other companies we state only what our earlier comparisons recorded, with the month they recorded it, and we say “check their plan page” where we have not verified something. Prices change; treat every figure as a snapshot.

The eleven tools, in plain words

1. Cart upsells (the slide-out cart)

What it is: The moment a shopper adds something, the cart slides out from the side with one or two suggested add-ons under it, chosen by you. One tap adds the extra item and the shopper carries on.

What it does for a store: It makes orders that were already going to happen a little bigger. Example, and only an example: if one shopper in ten takes a ₹99 add-on, an average ₹500 order becomes roughly ₹510 across the month, with no extra visitors and no extra ad spend.

Where it lives: SitesPlaced: Growth plan, ₹499/month. Shopify: from the app store.

2. Frequently bought together

What it is: A small bundle on the product page: this kurta, this dupatta, one ‘add both’ button. You pick the pairings; the store shows them on every product page you set them for.

What it does for a store: It turns a one-item order into a two-item order for the shoppers who were going to buy the second item somewhere anyway. It works best with a natural pair: phone case and screen guard, diya set and wick pack, shoes and the cleaning cloth.

Where it lives: SitesPlaced: Growth. Shopify: from the app store.

3. Post-purchase offer

What it is: Right after the order is placed, the thank-you screen offers one more item. One tap adds it to the same order; there is no second checkout.

What it does for a store: It is the cheapest moment to sell anything: the shopper has just paid and trusts you. A small, related item works here; a second full-price product usually does not.

Where it lives: SitesPlaced: Growth. Shopify: from the app store.

4. Buy X Get Y

What it is: ‘Buy 2, get 1 free’ or ‘buy 3, get the fourth at half price’. On SitesPlaced the discount is worked out on the server at checkout, so nobody can edit the page in their browser to claim it.

What it does for a store: It raises the number of units per order and clears stock. Use it on things people happily take three of (socks, soaps, cookies, hair ties), not on things they only ever need one of.

Where it lives: SitesPlaced: Growth. StoreBase lists BOGO and tiered coupons on its plan. Shopify: from the app store.

5. Reviews with Google star ratings

What it is: Reviews from people who actually bought (verified purchase). You approve each one before it shows, and you can reply. Approved reviews feed the product’s structured data, which is the code Google reads before it shows stars under a result. There is a review link you can send on WhatsApp, and a Judge.me import if you are moving a store across.

What it does for a store: New visitors decide from other buyers, not from your copy. Stars in a Google result can earn the tap before the visit. Google decides when to show stars; the data has to be there first, and made-up reviews are the fastest way to lose a repeat buyer.

Where it lives: SitesPlaced: Growth. Shopify: from apps such as Judge.me (a free tier; paid tiers from roughly $15 a month, rising with orders, as listed in our review-app comparison).

6. Loyalty: QR stamp cards and scratch cards

What it is: A digital stamp card. A stamp for every paid order online, or a scan of your QR at the counter; a free reward when the card fills. Scratch cards with odds and an expiry you set. One programme across several branches. The customer needs no app and no OTP, only a phone number.

What it does for a store: It gives a buyer a reason to come back to you rather than to the next reel they see. It suits cafés, bakeries, salons and kirana counters as much as online-only sellers, because a counter scan and an online order fill the same card.

Where it lives: SitesPlaced: Growth. Standalone QR loyalty apps list about ₹1,000 a year for one location (September 2026 listings; plans change).

7. WhatsApp order alerts

What it is: For every order, a notification to you and a confirmation to the buyer, sent from your own WhatsApp Business number through Meta’s Cloud API, with your own credentials.

What it does for a store: It ends the ‘did my order go through?’ message and puts your number in the buyer’s chat list for the next order. This is different from WhatsApp checkout, where the cart is sent to you as a message; that one is free on every SitesPlaced plan.

Where it lives: SitesPlaced: Growth. Shopify: usually a paid app. WSTORES lists WhatsApp checkout on its Basic plan, not own-number API alerts.

8. Abandoned-cart reminders

What it is: A message to someone who added to cart and left without paying.

What it does for a store: It recovers some of the orders that stalled at the address form or the payment screen. Fix the reasons first (show delivery charges early, offer cash on delivery, keep checkout short): a reminder cannot rescue a cart that was abandoned because of a surprise ₹99 delivery fee.

Where it lives: SitesPlaced: cart reminders by email and WhatsApp (on an approved template) are on the AI Co-founder plan only, ₹1,499/month, not on Starter or Growth. The Shiprocket 1-click checkout on Growth has its own abandoned-checkout follow-ups, run by Shiprocket inside that checkout. Alippo includes cart recovery from about ₹1,900/month per store.

9. Store analytics

What it is: Visits, where they came from, top products, cities and devices, in the store dashboard.

What it does for a store: It tells you whether you have a visitor problem or a buying problem, which need opposite fixes. Without it you are guessing which reel worked and whether the new banner helped.

Where it lives: SitesPlaced: Starter plan, ₹199/month. WSTORES lists analytics on Basic and advanced analytics on Pro.

10. Meta Pixel with the Conversions API

What it is: The Pixel reports a purchase from the browser. The Conversions API reports the same purchase from the server, straight from the order record, and the two are deduplicated so nothing counts twice. You use your own Pixel and token.

What it does for a store: Instagram and Facebook ads learn from real purchases even when the phone blocks the Pixel, so the ad account optimises for sales rather than clicks. If you do not run ads, you do not need it yet.

Where it lives: SitesPlaced: Starter. Shopify: the Pixel is native; server-side setup is often via an app. Shop2Host lists a Meta Pixel on its Pro plan.

11. Page speed

What it is: How fast a page answers when someone taps your link, before the images load. On every paid SitesPlaced plan (Starter and up), store pages answer about 4× faster than on the free plan: about 75 ms instead of about 330 ms, measured on 28 September 2026 on live paid stores, ranging from 2.3× to 5.5× by store. Pages are kept ready close to shoppers; every edit, price or stock change clears the ready copy, so changes still show at once. Cart, account and order-tracking pages are never kept.

What it does for a store: A page that answers at once holds the shopper who tapped from a story on mobile data. It is how fast the page answers, not the full page load: your photos still take as long as their size.

Where it lives: SitesPlaced: Starter and up, automatically. We have not measured other builders, so we make no claim about them.

A few smaller tools are free on every SitesPlaced plan and worth switching on before any of the above: the free-shipping progress bar (“add ₹200 more for free delivery”), coupons and sale prices, product badges and the trust strip, and, on the eleven brand-style templates and the General Store, quick add from the product list, the buy bar that stays on screen, and the delivery and COD line under the buy button. Those last three are not on the Premium Store, Simple Fashion Store, Grocery Store or Astrology & Consultation Store templates, and changing template means making a new store, so pick with that in mind. The social-proof popup (from your real orders, never invented), the welcome popup that reveals a coupon and collects an email, and the floating WhatsApp chat bubble are on Growth. The full list is on the sales boosters page.

1. SitesPlaced — the pick for a small Indian store

The free plan publishes a real store: unlimited products and orders, 0% commission, UPI, cards and net banking through your own Razorpay, PhonePe or Cashfree account, cash on delivery with an optional COD charge, WhatsApp checkout, coupons, the free-shipping bar, PDF invoices, Shiprocket and Shipmozo, and all 16 store templates, on a free yourname.sitesplaced.site address with a small badge. The store importer brings products in from Instagram or an existing website, free. Then two flat plans carry the tools in this post. Starter (₹199/month or ₹1,990/year) adds your own domain, removes the badge, turns on store analytics, Meta Pixel with the Conversions API and custom head code, and keeps store pages ready close to shoppers so they answer about 4× faster. Growth (₹499/month or ₹4,990/year) adds the cart upsells, frequently bought together, post-purchase offer, Buy X Get Y, social-proof and welcome popups, the WhatsApp bubble, verified reviews with Google star ratings and the Judge.me import, the loyalty programme, WhatsApp Business API order alerts, the 1-click checkouts (Shiprocket Checkout and Razorpay Magic Checkout) and done-for-you migration. Yearly is ten months’ price.

Good at:

  • • Everything in one dashboard, one bill, no app store. The Buy X Get Y discount is priced on the server; the social-proof popup only ever shows real orders.
  • • Reviews that fit how Indian buyers talk to sellers: a review link for WhatsApp, approval before anything shows, replies, stars fed to Google, and a Judge.me import for anyone leaving Shopify.
  • • A loyalty programme that works at a counter and online: QR stamp cards, scratch cards with set odds, one programme across branches, a print-ready QR kit, and no app or OTP for the customer.
  • • Order alerts from your own WhatsApp Business number, not a shared one.
  • • Store pages that answer about 4× faster on every paid plan, automatically, with edits still showing at once. Details in paid stores answer about 4× faster.
  • • Proof it is used: 45 real customer stores with 1,300+ products, shown in real websites built with SitesPlaced.
  • • 7 days free on Starter or Growth with code FREE7 when you set up autopay; cancel before the first charge and pay nothing.

Not good at:

  • • Cart reminders are on the AI Co-founder plan (₹1,499/month) only. On Growth you get the Shiprocket 1-click checkout’s own abandoned-checkout follow-ups, and the free fixes that stop most carts stalling, but not reminders from the store itself.
  • • Reviews do not yet have photo upload on new reviews, Q&A or carousel widgets; if those matter, a dedicated reviews app on Shopify still does more.
  • • There is no per-product COD, pincode restriction, delivery slots, pre-orders, returns module, gift cards, manual order creation or marketplace sync. If your business runs on any of those, it is the wrong fit today.
  • • Quick add, the buy bar and the delivery line are missing on four of the 16 templates (Premium, Simple Fashion, Grocery, Astrology & Consultation).
  • • We have verified all of this for Indian sellers. Sellers elsewhere pay through Stripe or PayPal and should check the integrations page before assuming a feature works in their country.

2. Shopify — the most complete platform, paid for one app at a time

Shopify is a paid, hosted platform with an app store, and every tool in this post exists for it. That is its strength: whatever you want to try, there is an app, and at scale the depth is unmatched. The catch for a small Indian store is how the tools arrive. Per our Shopify apps vs SitesPlaced integrations comparison (August 2026), WhatsApp order notifications, server-side Meta Conversions API tracking and Indian courier connections are usually third-party apps, many with their own monthly fee, on top of a plan that starts near ₹1,994 a month in India. Because Shopify Payments is not available in India, an extra 0.5–2% applies on outside gateways per our comparison. Reviews come from apps such as Judge.me (a free tier, then paid tiers from roughly $15 a month that rise with orders) or Loox (photo-first, roughly $10 a month and rising with orders), as listed in our review-app comparison. Themes are free and paid. App pricing varies by app and changes often; check the Shopify App Store for current fees.

Good at: the deepest set of selling tools anywhere, multi-currency selling at scale, a native Pixel, a large catalogue with complex logistics, and a team that already works in its app ecosystem.

Not good at: the bill for a store doing a few hundred orders a month, where the plan, the apps and the outside-gateway fee stack up before the first sale; and the India-native defaults (UPI, COD, WhatsApp), which mostly arrive as apps. Our full case is on the Shopify alternative for India page.

3. Wix and Squarespace — general website builders with a store add-on

Both are website builders first, with commerce on top. Both take 0% commission on your own gateway. Wix starts from about $17 a month per our 2026 comparison; in India, selling needs the Core plan at about ₹399 a month billed a year upfront, and the free tier shows Wix ads and cannot sell. Squarespace starts from about $16 a month, with commerce features on higher plans. Which of the eleven selling tools each includes, and on which tier, we have not verified, so check their current plan page rather than take our word.

Good at: layout control (Wix) and designer templates (Squarespace), for a site where the store is one section among several.

Not good at: the Indian rails. UPI, cash on delivery and WhatsApp checkout are not the defaults, and the tools in this post are not what either is known for. Read Shopify vs Wix vs Squarespace for the design side.

4. Dukaan — quick to start, with a fee that grows with you

Dukaan is catalogue-first: a free tier plus paid plans, with a store live in an afternoon. Per our 2026 comparison it charges a per-order service fee of roughly 4.99% on the free plan down to 0.99% on its top tier, capped at ₹200 per order, on top of your payment gateway, and a custom domain sits on paid tiers. Confirm on their pricing page. Which selling tools are on which plan, we have not verified.

Good at: the simplest possible start for a catalogue you never plan to brand.

Not good at: the point of this post. A per-order fee works against increasing sales: every upsell you win pays the fee too. See the best Dukaan alternatives.

5. WSTORES — a WhatsApp-first paid store, without the growth tools

As listed on its pricing page in August 2026: Basic at ₹399/month, Pro at ₹499/month and a ₹5,999 three-year plan, all including GST, with no free plan and a 7-day trial that needs a UPI AutoPay mandate and bills on day 8. Basic has unlimited products, 0% transaction fees, WhatsApp checkout, UPI, cards and cash on delivery, an announcement bar, a store QR code and analytics. Pro adds the custom domain, Shiprocket and Delhivery shipping, staff logins, product badges, advanced analytics, a Google Sheets sync, invoices and SEO tools. It does not list Meta Conversions API, own-number WhatsApp Business API alerts or AI copy, and none of the upsell, review or loyalty tools in this post appear on those plan pages. Details in WSTORES pricing explained.

Good at: a complete WhatsApp-first store for a seller who has decided to stay for three years; the ₹5,999 plan works out to about ₹167 a month.

Not good at: growing an order once it exists. Analytics is the only one of the eleven tools it lists.

6. Alippo — automation from day one, priced per store

Per our comparison, Alippo is an AI co-founder that builds and runs the store, with abandoned-cart recovery and promotions handled for you, from about ₹1,900 a month per store, with AI capacity metered by plan; it needs a paid plan to go live, and it does not list a commission figure. It is the one builder on this list where cart reminders are part of the pitch rather than an add-on.

Good at: reminders, promotions and customer replies running without you, from the first day.

Not good at: the price of entry. Nothing publishes free, the fee is per store, and the AI is metered. The comparable SitesPlaced plan is AI Co-founder at ₹1,499/month, which includes everything in Growth, four agents that never change anything without your approval, cart reminders, broadcasts, scheduled promotions and 1,500 AI credits a month. Our side-by-side is in the Alippo alternative.

Also considered

StoreBase (₹99/month plus 10% of sales, capped at ₹999/month, as listed in August 2026) does managed setup and lists coupons including BOGO and tiered discounts, which is the one Buy X Get Y-style tool we found outside SitesPlaced and Shopify among Indian builders. Shop2Host keeps Razorpay, Shiprocket, coupons, WhatsApp alerts and a Meta Pixel on its ₹690/month Pro plan; its free plan stops at ten products. StartupInMinutes has a real free plan with a 0% platform fee, but shipping is on the ₹999/month Pro plan. Shopexer is free with unlimited products; its pricing page returned a 404 when we checked in August 2026. StoreMaker starts at ₹222/month for 30 products. None of them lists upsells, reviews with Google stars or a loyalty programme on the plan pages we compared. The full table, with product caps and trial rules, is in Indian online store builders compared.

Which one for whom

  • An Instagram or WhatsApp seller doing your first few hundred orders a month: SitesPlaced. Publish free, take Starter when you start running ads or want your own domain, take Growth the month you have enough orders for upsells and reviews to matter.
  • A café, bakery, salon or counter shop that also sells online: SitesPlaced on Growth for the loyalty QR at the counter, or a standalone loyalty app if you already have a website elsewhere. Compared in the best loyalty apps for small shops.
  • A brand going international with a developer and a large catalogue: Shopify.
  • A site where the store is one page among many and layout control is the point: Wix or Squarespace.
  • Someone who wants reminders and promotions fully automated from day one and will pay per store for it: Alippo, or SitesPlaced AI Co-founder at ₹1,499/month.
  • A seller who wants to prepay three years and only needs WhatsApp checkout: WSTORES, after reading how its trial mandate works.

Who should not pick SitesPlaced

  • • You need a marketplace’s built-in traffic. No store builder brings shoppers; a marketplace does, for a commission. Many sellers run both: the marketplace for discovery, their own store for repeat orders. The trade-off is worked through in marketplace vs your own website.
  • • You need cart reminders on a ₹499 budget. On SitesPlaced they need the AI Co-founder plan; Alippo includes them from about ₹1,900/month per store.
  • • You need per-product COD, pincode restriction, delivery slots, pre-orders, a returns module, gift cards, manual order creation or marketplace sync. None of these exist on SitesPlaced today.
  • • You rely on photo reviews, Q&A or review carousels. A dedicated reviews app on Shopify still does those; ours does not yet.
  • • You sell outside India. Stripe and PayPal work for your shoppers, but we have verified the tools in this post for Indian sellers; check the integrations page for your country before you commit.
  • • You have a developer and are trading internationally at scale. Shopify.

Frequently asked questions

Which online store builder is best for increasing sales?

For a small Indian store, SitesPlaced, as of September 2026. The store is free to publish with 0% commission, and the tools that raise order value and repeat orders are part of two flat plans: Starter (₹199/month) for store analytics, Meta Pixel with the Conversions API and store pages that answer about 4× faster; Growth (₹499/month) for cart upsells, frequently bought together, post-purchase offers, Buy X Get Y, verified reviews with Google star ratings, the loyalty programme and WhatsApp order alerts from your own number. Shopify has every one of these tools too, but most arrive as separate apps with their own bills on top of a plan that starts near ₹1,994 a month in India.

Do upsells and bundles really increase sales?

They raise the size of orders that were already going to happen, which is a different job from bringing in visitors. Whether they work for you depends on whether you sell things that pair naturally (a case with a phone, a dupatta with a kurta). We do not publish a percentage because it differs by store; switch them on, then read your store analytics for a month and compare average order value before and after.

Are upsells, reviews and loyalty free on SitesPlaced?

They are on the Growth plan at ₹499/month (₹4,990/year), not on the free plan. The free plan does include the free-shipping progress bar, coupons and sale prices, product badges, WhatsApp checkout, cash on delivery and unlimited products at 0% commission. Code FREE7 at checkout gives 7 days free on Starter or Growth when you set up autopay; cancel before the first charge and you pay nothing.

Does SitesPlaced send abandoned-cart reminders?

Only on the AI Co-founder plan (₹1,499/month), where cart reminders go out by email and by WhatsApp on an approved template, alongside broadcasts and scheduled promotions. They are not on Starter or Growth. On Growth, the Shiprocket 1-click checkout runs its own abandoned-checkout follow-ups inside that checkout. The free fixes that stop most carts being abandoned in the first place, such as showing the delivery charge on the product page, offering cash on delivery and keeping checkout short, are on every plan.

Is Shopify better than SitesPlaced for increasing sales?

Shopify has the deepest set of selling tools of any platform, and if you are trading internationally at scale with a developer on the team it is the right choice. For a small Indian store the difference is how the tools arrive: on Shopify, WhatsApp notifications, server-side Meta tracking and Indian courier connections are usually paid apps, and reviews, upsells and loyalty come from the app store, on top of a plan that starts near ₹1,994 a month with 0.5–2% extra on outside gateways. On SitesPlaced they are part of a ₹499/month plan on a store that publishes free.

Do I need Meta Conversions API if I do not run ads?

No. The Conversions API only matters once you spend on Instagram or Facebook ads, because it sends each real purchase back to Meta from the server so the ads optimise for sales. Before that, store analytics (also on Starter) is the tool that tells you where visitors come from and what they buy.

Does page speed increase sales?

A page that answers quickly keeps the shopper who tapped from a story on mobile data; a slow one loses some of them before anything appears. We do not attach a sales percentage to it. What we can say precisely is that on every paid SitesPlaced plan, store pages answer about 4× faster than on the free plan: about 75 ms instead of about 330 ms, measured on 28 September 2026 on live paid stores. That is how fast the page answers, not the full page load; large photos still take as long as their size.

Can I get star ratings under my products in Google?

On SitesPlaced, approved verified-purchase reviews feed each product’s structured data, which is what Google reads before it shows stars in a result. Google decides when and whether to show them; no builder can promise stars, only supply the data correctly. Reviews are on the Growth plan at ₹499/month.

Verdict

Every builder here can sell a product. The difference is what happens to the second item and the second order. On Shopify, the tools that grow an order are real and deep, and each one is another app on another bill. On Wix, Squarespace and Dukaan, you should read the plan page before assuming any of them are there. On WSTORES, they are not. On Alippo, the automation is the product and you pay per store for it.

For a small Indian store, SitesPlaced is the pick as of September 2026: publish free at 0% commission, add analytics, ad tracking and store pages that answer about 4× faster for ₹199/month, and add upsells, bundles, Buy X Get Y, verified reviews with Google stars, the loyalty programme and WhatsApp alerts for ₹499/month, all in the store rather than bolted on. Cart reminders need the ₹1,499/month AI Co-founder plan, and we have said so plainly. If you are unsure, the honest test is a month on Growth with code FREE7: switch the tools on, read the analytics, and keep it only if the average order and the repeat orders moved.

Switch the selling tools on

Publish free at 0% commission. Starter at ₹199/month for analytics, ad tracking and store pages that answer about 4× faster; Growth at ₹499/month for upsells, reviews and loyalty. 7 days free with code FREE7 and autopay.
