28 Christmas and New Year WhatsApp messages for customers you can copy, change and send

Here are 28 WhatsApp messages for a small business to send between early December and the first week of January, grouped by what each is for: greetings, offers, last order dates, order updates, thank-yous and New Year wishes. Replace the words in [brackets], send each to the right people at the right time, and follow the two rules at the top: do not send often, and only send to people who chose to hear from you. The Diwali set is in Diwali WhatsApp messages for customers.

Two rules before you copy anything. First, frequency: at most one promotional message a week in December, never two days running, and in Christmas week only a greeting and one last-order reminder. Updates about a customer’s own parcel are the exception; those are welcome any time. Second, opt-in: send promotions only to people who chose to hear from you, meaning they saved your number, bought from you and agreed to updates, or asked to join your list. A broadcast list in the WhatsApp Business app only reaches people who have saved your number, which is a useful built-in check. End every promotional message with a way out (“reply STOP to leave the list”) and honour it the same day. A business that ignores both rules gets muted, and a muted customer is gone for good.

TL;DR

  • • 28 messages in six groups: greetings (5), offers (5), last order dates (4), order updates (4), thank-yous (4), New Year (6).
  • • Frequency: one promotional message a week at most. Order updates don’t count.
  • • Opt-in only. Saved your number, agreed to updates, or asked. Offer a way out every time.
  • • Dates: Christmas is Friday 25 December 2026; New Year’s Day is Friday 1 January 2027.
  • • Every offer message has an expiry and a store link, so the reader can act without replying.

How to use these

  • Fill the brackets. [Name], [Store], [date], [CODE], [store link]. A message with a bracket left in it looks like what it is.
  • Add the person. For buyers, name what they bought. “We hope the candle set was a hit” beats “we hope you liked your order”.
  • Make the link work. Your store link is yourbrand.sitesplaced.site or your own domain. For a “message us” line, the WhatsApp link generator makes a wa.me link with your number and a pre-filled first line.
  • Match the store. If a message says courier orders close on the 17th, your store’s announcement bar should say the same, and ordering should pause on the 18th. A message that promises what the store does not do causes refunds.
  • One group, one day. Do not send a greeting and an offer in the same message, or on the same day.

Where your store does the typing

Half of these messages exist because a buyer could not find something on their own: the price, the last date, where their parcel is. A store removes those questions. On SitesPlaced the announcement bar at the top of every page carries the last order date, with extra lines that rotate for the offer; coupons have an expiry date built in; every order has a Track Order page the buyer can check with their order ID; and when you hit the cut-off, Pause ordering shows your own message instead of the checkout. All of that is on the free plan, with 0% commission, UPI, cash on delivery and WhatsApp checkout.

For order updates, the free plan gives you the buyer’s number on every order so you can message them from it; messages 15 to 18 are written for that. On Growth (₹499 a month, or ₹4,990 once for a year), order alerts go out through the WhatsApp Business API from your own number automatically, and the WhatsApp chat bubble puts “message us” on every page. Selling on WhatsApp with SitesPlaced explains the whole set-up.

Your own domain comes with Starter: ₹199 a month, or pay ₹199 once for 30 days with no autopay, or ₹1,990 once for a year. Starter removes the SitesPlaced badge, adds analytics, and makes your store’s pages answer about 4× faster than on the free plan: about 75 ms instead of about 330 ms, measured on live paid stores on 28 September 2026. “Answer” means how soon the page starts arriving, before the photos load. The code FREE7 gives 7 days free on Starter or Growth when you set up autopay; cancel before the first charge and you pay nothing. The season’s plan is on the Christmas and New Year page for sellers.

Frequently asked questions

What should a Christmas WhatsApp message to customers say?

Keep it short, warm and specific to your business: a greeting, one line of genuine thanks, and nothing to sell. Save offers and links for a separate message sent only to people who asked for them. The 28 messages above are grouped by purpose: greetings, offers, last order dates, order updates, thank-yous and New Year wishes.

How often can I send WhatsApp messages to customers in December?

A simple rule: at most one promotional message a week, and never two days in a row. In Christmas week, one greeting and one last-order-date reminder. Order updates about a customer’s own parcel are different; those are welcome whenever there is news. If people start leaving your broadcast list, you are sending too much.

Is it legal to send promotional WhatsApp messages to customers in India?

Send only to people who chose to hear from you: they saved your number, bought from you and agreed to updates, or asked to join your list. A broadcast list in the WhatsApp Business app only reaches people who have saved your number, which is a useful built-in check. Make opting out easy by saying “reply STOP to leave the list” and honour it the same day. For anything beyond that, read WhatsApp’s business policies and ask a lawyer.

Should I send the same Christmas message to every customer?

Use the same message, but add the person’s name and, for buyers, the product they bought. A message that says “we hope the plum cake was a hit” lands very differently from a generic greeting. Keep a short list of your best customers and write those by hand.

Can my online store send order updates on WhatsApp automatically?

On SitesPlaced, order alerts through the WhatsApp Business API, sent from your own number, are part of the Growth plan. On the free plan you message the customer from the order yourself; the order has their number and the templates above are written for that. Every store also has a Track Order page the customer can use with their order ID.

Where do I put the last order date so everyone sees it?

In your store’s announcement bar, the strip at the top of every page (Settings → Branding on SitesPlaced), in your Instagram bio, and in one WhatsApp message a week before and one on the day. When the date passes, pause ordering with your own message so nobody can place an order you cannot deliver before Christmas.

Give every message a link worth tapping

Open a free store, put your Christmas range and last order date on it, and every WhatsApp message gets shorter. ₹0, 0% commission, UPI and WhatsApp checkout included.
