Gift shop business name ideas: 100 names for hampers, personalised gifts and more
A good gift shop name sounds like giving, is easy to spell into Instagram from the sticker on a box, and is not tied to one festival. Below are 100 names grouped by style and by what you sell, from hampers and personalised gifts to corporate orders, with the meaning of every Hindi word, and the checks to run before you print a single sticker.
Two things to know first. We have not checked any of these 100 names against Instagram, domain sellers or the trade mark register; someone may already be using one, and the common phrases (small things, last minute gifts, house of hampers) probably are. Treat the list as a starting point. And remember who reads a gift shop’s name: not the buyer, who already knows you, but the receiver, who has only the sticker on the box. The name has to get them from that sticker to your Instagram without a spelling mistake.
TL;DR
- • 100 ideas in ten groups: classic, modern, Hindi and regional, hampers, personalised, corporate, occasions, playful, premium and descriptive.
- • Best pattern: a giving word (upahaar, parcel, keepsake) plus a container word (box, hamper, studio).
- • Check five places: Instagram, the domain, Google, the trade mark search, and your store link.
- • Avoid: a festival in the name, anything close to a famous gifting brand, and names that need spelling out on a call.
- • Then claim it the same day: the handle, the WhatsApp Business name and a free store link.
How to use this list
Most names here are two halves: a giving or wrapping word (upahaar, parcel, ribbon, keepsake) and a container or maker word (box, hamper, studio, co.). Take one as it is or swap the halves: “Upahaar Box”, “Keepsake Studio”. Your own first name is the one half nobody else can use.
None of the names has a festival in it, on purpose. Gifts are bought every week of the year, and a shop called after one festival looks closed the rest of the time. If your business is mostly festive, the names in Diwali business name ideas were written for that, and they are not repeated here.

Five questions before you choose
- Can the receiver find you from the sticker? This is the gift-shop question. The buyer knows you; the person opening the box does not. If they can’t spell the name into Instagram from a 3 cm sticker, your best marketing channel is lost.
- Does it still make sense in a quiet month? Picture a birthday order in July. If the name sounds odd, it is a festival name.
- Does it leave room to grow? “Chocolate Hampers Co.” is perfect for chocolate and awkward for engraved pens. If you plan to widen the range, keep the second word wide: gifts, box, studio.
- Does it sound like a famous gifting brand? Greeting-card and online-gifting brands have lawyers. A name one letter away from theirs is not a new name.
- Can you say it on a phone call? Corporate orders are confirmed by phone. If you have to spell it out, the purchase order will carry a typo.
For a fuller method, and the difference between .com, .in and .store, read how to choose a name and domain for your online store.
The label test: a gift sticker is about 3 cm across
Your name will live on a round sticker that seals the tissue paper, a small tag on the ribbon, a card inside the box and a courier label outside it. The sticker is the one the receiver studies. Write the shortlisted name by hand in a circle about 3 cm across. If you have to shrink the letters to make it fit, the name is too long, however good it sounds.
Two short words almost always pass. Three words pass if one is “&” or “Co.”. The tagline (“Thoughtfully Curated Gifts for Every Occasion”) belongs on the card inside, not in the name. Put your Instagram handle on the sticker too; it is the most useful thing a receiver can read.
How to check the name is free
Do these in order and stop as soon as one fails. Stickers and boxes are ordered in hundreds; changing the name after they arrive is the expensive way.
1. Check the Instagram handle
A handle is the name after the @ sign. Search yours in the app. If an active account has it, the name is gone for practical purposes, because your buyers will land on them. If it is free, create the account today. If it is taken, add “gifts”, “studio” or your city rather than numbers or stacked underscores, and check the longer version is free as a domain too.
2. Check the domain
A domain is the address people type to reach a website, such as yourbrand.com. Any company that sells domains has a search box that tells you in seconds whether a name is free. You don’t have to buy it today. On SitesPlaced, a free store gets an address like yourname.sitesplaced.site the moment you pick the store link, and your own domain connects on the Starter plan.
3. Search Google
Search the name with “gifts” and your city. You are looking for another gift business with the same name. A gym with the name is not a problem; a gift shop is.
4. Avoid trade mark trouble
A trade mark is a name or logo registered to one business for a kind of product. India’s trade mark office, IP India (ipindia.gov.in), has a free public search. If someone has registered your name for gifts, stationery or similar goods, choose another. Registering your own mark is a separate step with its own forms and costs; for that, and for anything you are unsure about, check with a trade mark lawyer.
5. Try it as your store link
On SitesPlaced the first part of your free address is the store link, set under Settings → Store details. It is saved in lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens. If another store has it, you will see “Slug is already taken”.
| Check | Where | If it is taken |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram handle | Search the name in the Instagram app | Add “gifts”, “studio” or your city; avoid numbers and stacked underscores |
| Domain | The search box on any domain seller’s site | Try .in if .com is gone, or pick another name |
| Search the name with “gifts” and your city | If a gift business with that name shows up, move on | |
| Trade mark | The public search on the IP India website | Choose another name; ask a trade mark lawyer if unsure |
| Store link | Settings → Store details in your SitesPlaced store | You will see “Slug is already taken”; try a close variation |
What to avoid
- A festival in the name unless you only sell for that festival. Keep the business name general and call the range “the Diwali edit” or “the Christmas box”.
- Names close to a famous gifting or greeting-card brand. Changing one letter or adding “the” does not make it a new name.
- Claims you can’t back. “Luxury”, “handmade” and “organic” are promises about everything in the box.
- Numbers, hyphens and clever spellings. “Giftz4U” has to be spelled out every time you say it, and the receiver will never find it.
- A different name on each app. If the Instagram handle, the WhatsApp Business name and the store name don’t match, buyers wonder if they have the right shop.
Put the name to work the same day
Once a name passes the checks, claim it everywhere at once: the Instagram handle, your WhatsApp Business name, and your store. On SitesPlaced a store is free to open, with 0% commission: unlimited products and orders, UPI and cards through your own Razorpay, PhonePe or Cashfree account, cash on delivery and WhatsApp checkout. The Gifts & Lifestyle Store template is one of 16 free templates. On the free plan you also get a build-your-own hamper page, where the buyer picks the items and you pack one hamper, and per-product personalisation, so a buyer can type the name to engrave, upload a photo, or pay extra for gift wrap or a card. The store name appears in the header, on invoices and in order emails.
Your own domain, such as yourbrand.com, comes with the Starter plan at ₹199/month or ₹1,990 a year. In India you can also pay ₹199 once for 30 days, with no autopay. Starter removes the SitesPlaced badge and makes your store’s pages answer about 4× faster than on the free plan: about 75 ms instead of about 330 ms, measured on live paid stores on 28 September 2026. “Answer” means how soon the page starts arriving, before the photos load. The code FREE7 gives 7 days free on Starter or Growth when you set up autopay; cancel before the first charge and you pay nothing. Frequently asked questions
What is a good name for a gift shop?
One that sounds like giving, is easy to spell into Instagram from the sticker on a box, and is not tied to one festival. With gifts the buyer and the receiver are different people, so the name must work for someone who has only seen the packaging. Check the Instagram handle, the domain and the trade mark register before you print anything.
Should I put the word gifts in my business name?
It helps on Google, because people search “gift shop near me” and “personalised gifts”. It eats characters in an Instagram handle. A good middle path: keep “gifts” or “hampers” in the store name and the Google title, and drop it from the handle if the shorter version is free.
Should my gift shop name mention Diwali or Christmas?
Only if you plan to sell for a few weeks a year. A festival name looks out of date the rest of the year. Keep the business name general, and call the festive range a collection: “the Diwali edit”. Names built for the festive season are in our Diwali business name ideas post.
How do I check if a gift shop name is already taken?
Search the handle on Instagram, search the domain on any domain seller’s site, search the name on Google with “gifts” and your city, run the public trade mark search on the IP India website, and try the name as your store link. If a gift business already uses it, choose another.
Can I use a famous gifting brand’s name with a small change?
No. A name that looks or sounds like a well-known gifting or greeting-card brand can confuse buyers and can get you a legal notice or a removed Instagram account. Changing one letter or adding “the” does not make it a new name. If you are unsure, ask a trade mark lawyer.
Do I need to register my gift business name?
Registering the business and registering the name as a trade mark are separate steps, and what you need depends on how you set up. Confirm with a CA. What you can do today at no cost is make sure nobody else is using the name, then take the Instagram handle and your store link so they are yours.
How many gift shop names should I shortlist?
Three to five. Run them all through the checks at once, because the first favourite often fails at Instagram or the trade mark search. Then say each survivor out loud as if confirming an order on a call, and write it on a sticker the size of a coin. Pick the one that passes both.
Can I change my store name later on SitesPlaced?
Yes. The store name is under Settings → Store details and can be changed at any time. The store link can be changed too, but the old link stops working and is not redirected, so every link in your bio and on printed stickers would break. Settle on the name early.
