Children’s Day sale ideas: toys, kidswear and gifts to sell online in India
What sells for Children’s Day is small, quick and gift-shaped: toys and games, clothes for the school celebration, books and activity kits, return gifts in sets of 30, and anything with a child’s name on it. Buyers are parents, relatives and schools, and they decide in a day. Children’s Day 2026 is Saturday 14 November, six days after Diwali and thirteen before Black Friday, so this is a short, low-discount window you can list for in an hour. Below are five categories with example prices, who buys each, and the hour itself. The Diwali offers are in Diwali sale ideas and the big one after this is on the Black Friday page for sellers; this post is only about 14 November.
Where it sits. Diwali is Sunday 8 November 2026. Children’s Day is Saturday 14 November. Black Friday is Friday 27 November. Because the 14th is a Saturday, schools that close on Saturdays will probably celebrate on Friday 13, so school and classroom orders need to arrive by Thursday. That makes Wednesday 11 November a sensible last order date for anything that travels by courier.
TL;DR
- • Five things sell: toys and games, kidswear, books and kits, party supplies and return gifts, personalised gifts.
- • Three buyers: parents (one gift, ₹500–₹1,000), relatives (one gift, under ₹500), schools and teachers (30–40 small gifts at ₹50–₹100 each). Example ranges.
- • Low discount. One small code with an expiry, a gift-ready promise and a clear last order date beat a 20% sale.
- • List by Monday 9 November, post from the 9th, close courier orders on Wednesday 11.
- • Bulk orders are a product (“box of 30”) plus WhatsApp checkout, not a quote form.
- • An hour is enough to put it all online on a free store.
How Children’s Day buying works
Children’s Day is not a shopping festival. Nobody saves for it and nobody waits for a sale. It is a day when a parent wants one nice thing to hand over, a grandparent or an aunt wants to send something to a child in another city, and a school or a class teacher needs thirty identical small gifts by Friday morning. The buying is quick, the budgets are small, and the question is never “is it cheap” but “will it arrive and will the child like it”.
That is why the usual sale playbook is wrong here. A 20% code on a ₹399 puzzle saves the buyer ₹80 and costs you most of the margin, for a buyer who would have paid ₹399. What moves orders is the promise: delivered by Friday, wrapped, with a card. The gap in the calendar helps too. Your Diwali buyers still have your number, you have not yet started your Black Friday posts, and the fortnight in between is quiet for everyone else as well. What to do after Diwali covers the post-festival lull; Children’s Day is the easy way to fill it.

1. Toys and games
Puzzles, board games, building blocks and soft toys, in the ₹300 to ₹900 band. The thing a parent cannot tell from a photo is the age it suits, so put the age range in the title (“Jigsaw puzzle, 48 pieces, ages 4–7”) and the number of pieces or players in the first line of the description. Show the box and the contents in two photos; a toy still in its packaging looks like a gift, a toy out of it looks like a toy.
One honest note. Toys sold in India generally have to meet BIS standards and carry the BIS mark. If you resell, buy from a supplier who can show it on the box; if you make toys yourself, check what applies to your product with the Bureau of Indian Standards at bis.gov.in before you list it. Confirm with the authority or a professional; this post cannot.
2. Kidswear for the celebration
Schools often ask children to come in colour clothes on the day, and parents buy something new for it. Kids’ ethnic sets, a printed t-shirt, and matching pairs for siblings all sell, with sizes by age (2–3, 4–5, 6–7) rather than by chest measurement, which parents do not know off-hand. Put a size chart in the description and say whether the fit is loose. Price the set at ₹600 to ₹1,300 and the tee at ₹350 to ₹700 as examples. If you already sell ethnic wear, the Diwali stock you have left is exactly this; how to sell ethnic wear online has the listing details, and winter wear is the next thing the same parents buy.
3. Books and activity kits
Picture books, colouring and activity books, craft kits and small science kits. These are what relatives buy when they want to send something “useful”, and they are light, flat and cheap to courier. Bundle three books for one price as a single product and photograph the three together; a ₹600 “story set” sells where three ₹200 books sit. Say the age range and the language. Kits need a photo of the finished thing a child makes, not the packet.
4. Party supplies and return gifts
This is the bulk category, and the one most small sellers miss. A class teacher, a school office or a parent hosting a party needs thirty or forty identical small gifts: pencil sets, sticker packs, small stationery pouches, mini colouring books, badges. The budget is ₹50 to ₹100 a child as an example, so a box of 30 is a ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 order, which is bigger than almost any single gift you will sell that week.
Sell it as a product: Return gifts, box of 30, with the contents listed, and a second product for 40. There is no minimum-order-quantity setting and no request-a-quote button on SitesPlaced, and you do not need one. Add a personalisation field (“school or class name for the tags”), switch on WhatsApp checkout so the buyer can send the cart to your WhatsApp as an order, agree the count and the date in the chat, and take the payment by UPI; the order-placed screen shows a UPI QR with the exact amount filled in for stores that take UPI directly. Taking bulk and corporate orders walks through the conversation.
5. Personalised gifts
A water bottle, lunch bag, cushion, story book or t-shirt with the child’s name is the gift a relative in another city sends, and it is the one category where price matters least, because nobody compares a name-print bottle on two stores. On SitesPlaced, personalisation is set per product under Personalisation & extras: a text field for the name, a photo upload if the gift carries one, and paid extras such as gift wrap or a card. The caution is time. Personalised items cannot be made in advance, so put the cut-off in the product title (“order by Tuesday 10 November”) and in the announcement bar, and do not take a name order on Thursday that you cannot post until Friday. Never discount these; the work is the price.
Who buys, and how to reach each one
- Parents buy one gift and the clothes, in the week before, mostly from Instagram. A reel of the toy being played with, a story with the link sticker to your Children’s Day category, and a line that says “delivered by Friday”. Budget ₹500 to ₹1,000 as an example.
- Relatives and grandparents buy one gift for a child they will not see, which means delivery to a different address and a card. The buyer types the child’s address at checkout, so say in the description that you ship to any address in India, offer gift wrap and a card as paid extras, and promise that no price is printed on anything. Budget under ₹500.
- Schools and teachers buy the box of 30 and they buy early, on WhatsApp, after one message to a parent group or a teacher they know. Send one status on Monday 9 November with a photo of the box and the per-child price, and let WhatsApp checkout do the rest.
Offers that fit a small occasion
Keep it to one. A code such as KIDS10, 10% off above ₹799, capped at ₹100, expiring on 14 November (coupons under Settings → Discounts take an expiry, a minimum order and a max discount, and can be limited to one category). Or free delivery above ₹999, set under Settings → Shipping, which shows a bar in the cart saying how much more to add, and turns one puzzle into a puzzle and a book. If you are on Growth, Buy 2 Get 1 on return-gift items and small books fits the “one for each child” buyer. Skip everything else. The Christmas and New Year offers post has the margin maths if you want to see what each one costs.
How to list it all in an hour
This assumes the photos are already on your phone. If they are not, how to take better product photos is a twenty-minute job with a window and a white sheet; do it first.
| Minutes | Step | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| 0–10 | Open a free store and pick a template | Gifts & Lifestyle Store or General Store. Name, logo, accent colour. |
| 10–35 | Add 6–8 products | One photo each on a plain background, the age range in the title, a price, stock count. |
| 35–40 | Make a “Children’s Day” category | It gets its own address, yourname.sitesplaced.site/childrens-day, for every link you share. |
| 40–45 | Badges and extras | “Gift Ready” badge on gifts; gift wrap as a paid extra; a name field on personalised items. |
| 45–55 | Payments, delivery and a coupon | Razorpay or your UPI, COD on, WhatsApp checkout on, delivery charge, code KIDS10 expiring 14 November. |
| 55–60 | Announcement bar and share | “Children’s Day gifts: order by Wednesday 11 for delivery by Saturday.” Post the link on status and in your bio. |
Every step in the table is on the free plan: ₹0, 0% commission, unlimited products and orders, UPI and cards through your own Razorpay, PhonePe or Cashfree account, cash on delivery, WhatsApp checkout, coupons with an expiry, the free-delivery bar, badges, per-product personalisation and the announcement bar. If you deliver only in your own city, list your pincodes under Settings → Checkout → Delivery area and checkout refuses the rest before payment. The store lives at a free yourname.sitesplaced.site address with a small badge; Starter (₹199 a month, or ₹199 once for 30 days with no autopay) gives you your own domain, removes the badge, adds analytics and makes your store’s pages answer about 4× faster than on the free plan, about 75 ms instead of about 330 ms, measured on live paid stores on 28 September 2026. “Answer” means how soon the page starts arriving, before the photos load. The code FREE7 gives 7 days free on Starter or Growth with autopay; cancel before the first charge and pay nothing.
The week, in order
- Before Diwali (by Saturday 7 November) or Monday 9 at the latest: the hour above. Products, category, coupon, announcement bar.
- Monday 9: one status with the return-gift box for teachers and parent groups; one story with the link sticker to the category.
- Tuesday 10: last day for personalised orders. Say so in the morning.
- Wednesday 11: last courier order date. Post it as a deadline, once, in the evening. Ship everything you have.
- Thursday 12 and Friday 13: local deliveries, school boxes handed over, a thank-you status with a photo.
- Saturday 14: Children’s Day. Post the children’s photos parents send you, with permission. Then open the Black Friday 10-day plan, which starts on Tuesday 17.

Frequently asked questions
What sells on Children’s Day in India?
Small gifts a parent or relative can buy without thinking: soft toys, puzzles and board games, kids’ clothes for the school celebration, picture and activity books, craft kits, and anything with the child’s name on it. Schools and teachers buy return gifts in sets of 30 or 40. The sweet spot is roughly ₹300 to ₹900 for a single gift and ₹50 to ₹100 a child for a class set; those are example ranges, not rules.
When is Children’s Day 2026 and when should I start selling?
Children’s Day is Saturday 14 November 2026. Schools that are closed on Saturdays will probably hold their celebration on Friday 13, so school orders land a day early. List your products in the week before Diwali (Diwali is Sunday 8 November) or on the Monday after it at the latest, post from Monday 9 November, and give a last order date of Wednesday 11 so the courier has time.
Do toys need a BIS mark to be sold online in India?
Toys sold in India generally have to meet BIS standards and carry the BIS mark. If you resell, buy from a supplier who can show it; if you make toys yourself, check what applies to your product with the Bureau of Indian Standards (bis.gov.in) before you list. This post is not legal advice; confirm with the authority or a professional.
How do I take a bulk order from a school?
Make the set a product: “Return gifts, box of 30”, with a personalisation field for the school’s name or the class, and a note saying larger counts are available on WhatsApp. There is no minimum-order-quantity setting or request-a-quote button on SitesPlaced, and you do not need one; the school sends the cart to your WhatsApp with WhatsApp checkout, you agree the count and the date in the chat, and they pay by UPI or you share a coupon for the agreed price.
What price works best for Children’s Day gifts?
Under ₹500 for a gift from a relative, ₹500 to ₹1,000 for a gift from a parent, and under ₹100 a child for return gifts, as examples. Children’s Day is a small occasion, not a big-ticket one, so buyers decide quickly and rarely compare. Price round, show the age range, and add delivery to the price or set free delivery above a value rather than surprising people at checkout.
Is Children’s Day too close to Diwali to be worth a sale?
No, and the gap is the point. It falls six days after Diwali on 8 November and thirteen days before Black Friday on 27 November, in a fortnight when your Diwali buyers still have your number and your Black Friday plan has not started. Do not discount much; one small code with an expiry and a gift-ready promise is enough. Treat it as the warm-up for Black Friday, not a second Diwali.
Can I really list Children’s Day products in an hour?
Yes, if the photos are taken. The hour in this post is: open a free store, add six to eight products, make one category, set badges and a gift-wrap extra, switch on payments, delivery and a coupon, write the announcement bar and share the link. SitesPlaced stores are free to publish, with 0% commission and no card needed.
List your Children’s Day gifts tonight
