Candle business name ideas: 100 names for candles and home fragrance
A good candle business name suggests a scent or a mood, is easy to type into Instagram from the label on a jar, and leaves room for diffusers and wax melts later. Below are 100 names grouped by style, with the meaning of every Hindi word, and the checks to run before you print a single label.
Two things to know first. We have not checked any of these 100 names against Instagram, domain sellers or the trade mark register; someone may already be using one, and the common phrases (low light, slow burn, hot mess) probably are. Treat the list as a starting point. And watch the wax words: “soy”, “beeswax”, “coconut wax” and “no paraffin” are claims about every candle you sell. Put them in a name only if they are always true.
TL;DR
- • 100 ideas in ten groups: classic, modern, Hindi and regional, scent, soy and natural wax, home fragrance, gifting, playful, premium and descriptive.
- • Best pattern: a scent or light word (mogra, amber, jyoti) plus a maker word (wick, studio, house).
- • Check five places: Instagram, the domain, Google, the trade mark search, and your store link.
- • Avoid: wax claims that aren’t always true, famous perfume names, and anything that won’t fit beside the safety label.
- • Then claim it the same day: the handle, the WhatsApp Business name and a free store link.
How to use this list
Most names here are two halves: a scent or light word (mogra, amber, jyoti, ember) and a maker word (wick, studio, house, co.). Take one as it is or swap the halves: “Mogra Studio”, “Amber Wick”. Your own first name is the one half nobody else can use.
Many of the words are Hindi; the meaning sits next to each. If your buyers speak another language, use the same pattern with a word from theirs. The ten festive candle names in Diwali business name ideas are not repeated here, so between the two posts you have 110 to choose from.
Classic candle names: names 1 to 10
The tone of a chandler’s shop, which is the old word for a candle maker. Wick, taper and lantern words sound settled and warm.

Modern and minimal names: names 11 to 20

- Studio Wick — Two words, no decoration.
- Low Light — Says mood, not product. A common phrase, so it may be taken.
- Plain Wax Co. — Honest about the look.
- Form & Flame — Shape and fire.

- Wax Theory — Sounds considered.

Names built on Hindi and regional words: names 21 to 30

Five questions before you choose
- Does it make a claim about the wax? “Soy”, “beeswax”, “natural” and “no paraffin” mean every candle. If only part of the range qualifies, keep the word on the product, not in the name.
- Does it borrow a perfume? Famous fragrance names are trade marks. Describe the notes instead of naming the brand your candle smells like.
- Does it leave room to grow? “Jar Candle Co.” is perfect for jars and awkward for reed diffusers. If you plan to add home fragrance, pick a wider word: studio, fragrance, home.
- Can the person who receives it find you? Candles are gifted constantly. The receiver sees only the label. If they can’t spell the name into Instagram from that, you lose the next order.
- Can you say it on a phone call? If you have to spell it out, buyers will mistype it. “Candela” is lovely and will be typed “Candella” half the time; decide if you can live with that.

The label test: your name shares the jar with the safety label
A candle label is crowded. Beside your name it carries the scent, the burn instructions (trim the wick, never leave unattended, keep away from children) and often the wax type and weight. That leaves your name a strip not much wider than a jar lid, and far less on a tealight or a wax melt pouch. Write the shortlisted name by hand in that space. If you have to shrink the letters, the name is too long, however good it sounds.
Two short words almost always pass. Three words pass if one is “&” or “Co.”. The tagline (“Hand-Poured Soy Candles from Pune”) goes on the back label or the box, not in the name.
How to check the name is free
Do these in order and stop as soon as one fails. Labels and boxes are ordered in hundreds; changing the name after they arrive is the expensive way.
1. Check the Instagram handle
A handle is the name after the @ sign. Search yours in the app. If an active account has it, the name is gone for practical purposes, because your buyers will land on them. If it is free, create the account today. If it is taken, add “candles”, “studio” or your city rather than numbers or stacked underscores, and check the longer version is free as a domain too.
2. Check the domain
A domain is the address people type to reach a website, such as yourbrand.com. Any company that sells domains has a search box that tells you in seconds whether a name is free. You don’t have to buy it today. On SitesPlaced, a free store gets an address like yourname.sitesplaced.site the moment you pick the store link, and your own domain connects on the Starter plan.
3. Search Google
Search the name with “candles” and your city. You are looking for another candle or fragrance brand with the same name. A bakery with the name is not a problem; a candle maker is.
4. Avoid trade mark trouble
A trade mark is a name or logo registered to one business for a kind of product. India’s trade mark office, IP India (ipindia.gov.in), has a free public search. If someone has registered your name for candles, perfumes or home fragrance, choose another. Registering your own mark is a separate step with its own forms and costs; for that, and for anything you are unsure about, check with a trade mark lawyer.
5. Try it as your store link
On SitesPlaced the first part of your free address is the store link, set under Settings → Store details. It is saved in lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens. If another store has it, you will see “Slug is already taken”.
| Check | Where | If it is taken |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram handle | Search the name in the Instagram app | Add “candles”, “studio” or your city; avoid numbers and stacked underscores |
| Domain | The search box on any domain seller’s site | Try .in if .com is gone, or pick another name |
| Search the name with “candles” and your city | If a candle or fragrance brand with that name shows up, move on | |
| Trade mark | The public search on the IP India website | Choose another name; ask a trade mark lawyer if unsure |
| Store link | Settings → Store details in your SitesPlaced store | You will see “Slug is already taken”; try a close variation |
What to avoid
- A festival in the name unless you only sell for that festival. Candles sell all year; a name built on light or scent carries the festive feeling without the date. Festive names are in Diwali business name ideas.
- Wax claims you can’t back. “Soy”, “natural”, “organic” and “no paraffin” are promises about every candle you sell.
- Famous perfume or candle brand names, even with a letter changed. Describe the notes instead.
- Health claims. Words like “therapy” and “healing” in a name invite questions you may not want to answer. Say “calming” if you must, and keep it off the label.
- A different name on each app. If the Instagram handle, the WhatsApp Business name and the store name don’t match, buyers wonder if they have the right shop.
Put the name to work the same day
Once a name passes the checks, claim it everywhere at once: the Instagram handle, your WhatsApp Business name, and your store. On SitesPlaced a store is free to open, with 0% commission: unlimited products and orders, UPI and cards through your own Razorpay, PhonePe or Cashfree account, cash on delivery and WhatsApp checkout. The Home & Decor Store and Gifts & Lifestyle Store templates are among 16 free templates. Per-product personalisation on the free plan lets a buyer add a gift note or pay for gift wrap, which is how most candles are bought. The store name appears in the header, on invoices and in order emails.
Your own domain, such as yourbrand.com, comes with the Starter plan at ₹199/month or ₹1,990 a year. In India you can also pay ₹199 once for 30 days, with no autopay. Starter removes the SitesPlaced badge and makes your store’s pages answer about 4× faster than on the free plan: about 75 ms instead of about 330 ms, measured on live paid stores on 28 September 2026. “Answer” means how soon the page starts arriving, before the photos load. The code FREE7 gives 7 days free on Starter or Growth when you set up autopay; cancel before the first charge and you pay nothing. Frequently asked questions
What is a good name for a candle business?
One that suggests a scent or a mood, is easy to type into Instagram from the label on a jar, and leaves room for diffusers and wax melts later. Two short words usually beat one long one. Check the Instagram handle, the domain and the trade mark register before you print labels.
Should I put candle in my business name?
It helps on Google, because people search “scented candles” and “candles near me”. It limits you if you plan to add diffusers, room sprays or wax melts. A good middle path: keep “candles” in the store name and the Google title, and use a wider word like “studio” or “fragrance” if the range will grow.
Can I use soy or natural in my candle brand name?
Only if it is true of every candle you sell. A buyer who orders from “Soy Light Studio” and gets a paraffin blend has a real complaint. If some of your range is soy and some is not, keep the wax out of the name and state it on each product instead.
Can I name my candle after a famous perfume?
No. Perfume names are trade marks, and using one for a candle that smells like it invites a legal notice. Describe the notes instead: “Oud & Orris” says what the candle smells of without borrowing a brand. The same goes for naming your business after a well-known candle brand with one letter changed.
How do I check if a candle business name is already taken?
Search the handle on Instagram, search the domain on any domain seller’s site, search the name on Google with “candles” and your city, run the public trade mark search on the IP India website, and try the name as your store link. If a candle or fragrance brand already uses it, choose another.
Do I need to register my candle business name?
Registering the business and registering the name as a trade mark are separate steps, and what you need depends on how you set up. Confirm with a CA. What you can do today at no cost is make sure nobody else is using the name, then take the Instagram handle and your store link so they are yours.
How many candle names should I shortlist?
Three to five. Run them all through the checks at once, because the first favourite often fails at Instagram or the trade mark search. Then say each survivor out loud as if confirming an order on a call, and write it on a label the size of a jar lid. Pick the one that passes both.
Can I change my store name later on SitesPlaced?
Yes. The store name is under Settings → Store details and can be changed at any time. The store link can be changed too, but the old link stops working and is not redirected, so every link in your bio and on printed labels would break. Settle on the name early.
