Why an escape hatch matters more than any single integration

Every website builder eventually tells someone no. The tool you want is not on their list, and your options are to wait, to leave, or to give up on the thing.

Custom head code removes that conversation. If a tool gives you a script tag — and almost all of them do — you can have it today. That is worth more than any individual integration, because it covers the tools nobody has thought of yet.

It is also what makes the 21 built-in integrations a floor rather than a ceiling. The built-ins handle the things worth doing properly, with server-side verification and real error handling. The head code handles everything else.

What people actually use it for

The tracking that should not go here

One important exception. Meta Pixel and Conversions API should use the built-in integration, not head code.

A pasted pixel fires in the browser only, which means ad blockers and iOS tracking limits eat a share of your conversions, and Meta optimises against a partial picture. The built-in integration also sends the Purchase event from the server, after payment actually clears, deduplicated by order ID. That is a materially better result than a pasted tag can give you.

Same logic anywhere the event needs to be trustworthy: if it matters that the number is right, use the integration.

The safety part

Anything you paste here runs on your live site, so treat it the way you would treat a script on any site you own: paste from the tool's own dashboard, not from a forum post, and remove anything you have stopped using.

The code is scoped to your own site's origin, so it cannot reach into another store on the platform. And because it is on the Ecommerce plan rather than the free one, it is not a surface that anonymous accounts can abuse.
