7 ChatGPT prompts that build you a real website (free)

These 7 prompts make ChatGPT build, edit and publish a real website — not generate code — because they run through the free SitesPlaced connector. One-time setup: in ChatGPT go to Settings → Apps & Connectors → enable Developer mode → Create connector → paste https://sitesplaced.com/api/mcp and sign in. After that, each prompt below produces an actual live site you can publish free. Every prompt works unchanged in Claude too.
Why these prompts work when normal ones don’t
Ask a plain ChatGPT to “build me a website” and you get HTML you still have to host, or advice you still have to follow. With the SitesPlaced connector attached, ChatGPT gets real builder tools — create a site, edit its sections, add products, publish — scoped to your account via OAuth (you sign in and approve; no API keys). The portfolio prompt
Build me a portfolio website on SitesPlaced. I'm a freelance photographer in Lisbon shooting weddings and brand campaigns. Include a hero, an about section, a gallery, services with starting prices, and a contact section. Dark, minimal theme. Check if the slug lens-and-light is free, and give me the preview link — don't publish yet.
What happens: ChatGPT reads SitesPlaced's section vocabulary, writes real copy for every section, and creates the site in a single call (the create_site_from_blueprint tool). You get back a working preview link to an actual multi-section site — not a wall of code. Because ChatGPT authors the content itself, none of SitesPlaced's AI credits are used.
The small-business prompt
Create a website for my business on SitesPlaced: Verma Physio Clinic in Pune. We treat sports injuries and back pain, and take appointments on WhatsApp at +91 98XXXXXXXX. I want a trustworthy look: hero, services, why-us, testimonials, and a contact section with the WhatsApp number everywhere it matters.
What happens: Same builder, different brief. ChatGPT can also browse the template catalog first (list_templates covers business, portfolio, student, gym and wedding templates) and start from one instead of a blank blueprint. Either way you end up with an editable site in your SitesPlaced dashboard, so nothing is locked inside the chat.
The online-store prompt
Create an online store on SitesPlaced called Ember & Wick. We sell handmade soy candles. Add these products: Cedar Smoke ₹499, Rose Milk ₹449, Monsoon ₹549, each with a two-line description. Warm, cozy theme, WhatsApp orders on +91 98XXXXXXXX. Take it live.
What happens: This runs the store builder (create_store_from_blueprint): a storefront theme, written copy, and real product records — with images rehosted onto SitesPlaced if you give ChatGPT image URLs. The restaurant / menu prompt
Build a website on SitesPlaced for Café Amara, a small brunch café in Indiranagar, Bengaluru. Sections: hero with opening hours, our story, a menu section with our 12 dishes and prices (I'll paste them), gallery, and a contact section with a map address and WhatsApp ordering.
What happens: Paste your dishes into the chat and ChatGPT lays them out as a structured menu section with the rest of the site around it. Update the menu later the same way — “change the price of the shakshuka to ₹320” — and the edit goes live in about a minute, because the assistant edits the same sections your dashboard editor uses.
The wedding / event prompt
Show me SitesPlaced's wedding invite templates, then build an invite site for Aisha & Rohan, December 12, 2026 at The Leela Palace, Udaipur. Include our story, the event schedule, venue details, and an RSVP section. Elegant, royal look.
What happens: ChatGPT lists the wedding templates (they're in the same catalog) and builds the invite from your details. One honest note: wedding and event invite sites are the one SitesPlaced category with a small one-time unlock to publish — if it applies, the assistant is given the pricing link to share with you rather than a surprise charge. The edit-my-site prompt
On my SitesPlaced site ember-and-wick, change the hero headline to “Candles that smell like a place, not a perfume” and rewrite the about section to sound warmer and more personal.
What happens: ChatGPT looks up your sites (list_my_sites), fetches the current sections, and updates just the ones you named (update_section_content). If the site is already published, the change is live on your URL right away. This is the prompt you'll use most — your website becomes something you maintain by talking.
The publish prompt
Publish my SitesPlaced site and give me the live link.
What happens: One tool call (set_site_published) and your site is live at yourname.sitesplaced.site — free, with a small SitesPlaced badge. Publishing follows the exact same plan rules as the dashboard: for a normal website or store there's nothing to pay, and if a step ever does need an upgrade (like the wedding unlock above), ChatGPT gets a pricing link to pass on instead of a paywall error.

The honest fine print
- The connector is doing the building. Without it, ChatGPT can only hand you code or instructions. With it, the output is a real site in your SitesPlaced dashboard that you can keep editing — by chat or by hand.
- Free means published free. Websites and stores go live at yourname.sitesplaced.site with a small badge, no trial, no expiry. You pay only if you want a custom domain and the badge gone — from ₹199/month ($7.99) for a website, ₹499/month ($14.99) for a store.
- Scope is deliberately limited. The connector only touches sites owned by the account you sign in with. Billing, custom domains, tracking scripts and customer/order data are not reachable through chat, and deleting a site requires your explicit confirmation.
