UPI QR Code Generator

Enter your UPI ID, an optional payee name, fixed amount and note. Get a upi://pay QR code that works in every UPI app, and download it as PNG or SVG for print.

Inputs

Find it in your UPI app under Profile. Never share the PIN — the ID alone is safe to print.

Shown in the payer's app so they know who they are paying.

Your UPI QR

Enter your UPI ID (for example yourname@upi).

What this UPI QR code generator does

It builds an NPCI-format UPI payment link from your virtual payment address (VPA, the thing that looks like name@bank) and renders it as a QR code. You can add a payee name so the customer sees who they are paying, lock a fixed amount, and attach a transaction note such as an order number. The generator validates the UPI ID format before it draws anything, and exports PNG for screens or SVG for print. Everything runs in your browser; the UPI ID is not sent to any server.

upi://pay?pa=<UPI ID>&pn=<payee name>&am=<amount>&cu=INR&tn=<note>

Only pa (payee address) is mandatory. cu is always INR. The amount, when set, is written with two decimals (499.00) so every app parses it the same way.

How to use it

  1. Paste your UPI ID

Open your UPI app → Profile → copy the ID. Business accounts often have a separate merchant VPA; use that if you have one.

  2. Add a payee name

Your brand name. The payer sees it on the confirm screen, which reduces drop-offs from 'who is this?'.

  3. Optional amount and note

Fixed amount for a specific product or invoice; a note like 'Order #1042' helps you reconcile later.

  4. Download and test

Download PNG or SVG, then pay yourself ₹1 from another phone to confirm the name, amount and note show correctly.

Worked example

Worked example

UPI ID meerajewels@okaxis, payee name Meera Handmade Jewellery, amount ₹1,250, note Order #1042.

upi://pay?pa=meerajewels@okaxis&pn=Meera%20Handmade%20Jewellery&am=1250.00&cu=INR&tn=Order%20%231042

The UPI ID is written as-is (its characters are already URL-safe, and a literal @ is what every printed UPI QR uses), while spaces in the name become %20 and the # in the note becomes %23 so nothing breaks the link. When the customer scans it, their app shows “Pay ₹1,250.00 to Meera Handmade Jewellery” with the note attached, and the amount field is locked.

Leave the amount blank and the same QR becomes a counter QR: the app shows the payee and asks the customer to type an amount.

Where a UPI QR is useful — and where it isn't

  • Exhibition stalls, pop-ups and home pickups — one laminated QR on the table.
  • Invoices and packing slips for balance or COD-converted-to-prepaid payments.
  • WhatsApp: send the QR image with a fixed amount instead of typing the UPI ID for every customer.
  • Not ideal for your online store's checkout — there is no automatic confirmation, so you still chase screenshots.

For an online store you want a gateway that confirms the payment and updates the order on its own. On SitesPlaced, Razorpay (UPI, cards, net banking, wallets) and cash on delivery are on the free plan, and the UPI + COD guide walks through setting both up.

Frequently asked questions

Will this QR work with Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and BHIM?

Yes. The QR encodes a standard upi://pay link as defined by NPCI, which every UPI app understands. The payer scans it from inside their app (or with the phone camera, which hands it to a UPI app), sees your name and the amount, and enters their PIN.

Is it safe to print my UPI ID?

Yes. A UPI ID can only receive money. Nobody can debit your account with it — that needs your phone, your app and your PIN. Never share the PIN or approve a 'collect request' you did not expect; those are the actual scams.

Should I set a fixed amount?

Set it for a specific product or invoice (the payer cannot edit it in most apps, so there are no 'I paid ₹499 instead of ₹499.50' mistakes). Leave it blank for a counter QR where every customer pays a different amount.

Why does a large amount fail?

UPI apps and banks enforce their own per-transaction and daily limits, and some apps decline QR payments above a threshold. The limits differ by bank and change over time, so this tool does not quote a number — if you sell high-value items, test with your own account first or take a part payment.

Does a UPI QR replace a payment gateway on my store?

Not for a real checkout. A static QR gives you no automatic confirmation — you are back to asking for screenshots. A gateway such as Razorpay (UPI, cards, net banking) confirms the payment and marks the order paid without you touching it. On SitesPlaced Razorpay and COD are free; Razorpay's own gateway fee applies.

Put this to work on a free online store

A UPI QR collects money; it does not tell you which order it was for. A free SitesPlaced store takes UPI through Razorpay with automatic confirmation, plus COD and WhatsApp checkout, so you stop matching screenshots to orders.
