Lesson 1 of 7 5 min

Put your link everywhere

Your store link in the bio, in every reply, on your WhatsApp status, on the parcel — and a share card so a forwarded link looks like a shop, not a string of letters.

A stranger will not search for you. They will see your link somewhere — a bio, a story, a forwarded message, a sticker on a box — and tap it or not. So the first job after ten orders is boring and decisive: make the link impossible to miss, and make it look like a shop when it lands.

The five places it has to be

  • Instagram bio. The website field, with nothing else in it. Your bio line ends with shop at the link below, not DM to order. Every caption ends the same way.
  • Every reply. When someone comments price? or messages how to order, the answer is the product link, not the price. The price is on the page, with the size, the delivery charge and the pay button.
  • WhatsApp status. One product, one line, the link. Everyone who has your number sees it, and it costs nothing. WhatsApp that sells turns this into a daily habit.
  • On the parcel and at the counter. Your store's Home tab has a Store QR code card: download the code, or press Print for a ready-made Scan to shop card. A QR on the thank-you note inside every parcel reaches the person who opens the box — often not the person who ordered it. See Publish & share your site.
  • Anywhere people already talk about what you sell. The society group, the college group, a niche Facebook group. One useful message with a photo and the link, following the group's rules — not a daily forward.

Make the link look like a shop

Paste a bare link into WhatsApp and it shows as blue text. Set three things and the same link shows as a card: a title, a line of description and a picture. People tap cards. They scroll past blue text.

The three fields are under Settings → SEO & sharing: the name shown on Google, a short description, and the photo shown when your link is shared. The same fields decide what Google prints when your store appears in a search, so write the title as Brand | What you sell and put the product type and your city in the description. The exact fields, sizes and the live preview are in SEO & social sharing.

Test it before you share it

Send the link to yourself on WhatsApp and look at the card. If the picture is your hero banner with text across it, upload a clean product photo as the share image instead. Messaging apps remember an old preview for a while, so set this before the first big push, not after.

Which link to share

Your dashboard's share buttons and QR code use yourname.sitesplaced.site. The same store also answers at yourname.sitesplaced.com, which is the address Google indexes. Both open the same pages. Keep the yourname part short enough to say on the phone, and do not change it once it is printed on packaging — the old link stops working. See Your free address.

A custom domain — yourbrand.in instead of a sitesplaced address — is part of the Starter plan. It is worth it the day you print the link on something that lasts: cards, labels, a shop board. Until then the free address does the job. When you are ready: Connect your own domain.

Write down

Bio updated: yes / no. Share image set: yes / no. QR printed and in the next parcel: yes / no. Then count how many places the link is in today. Aim for five before the next lesson.
