Delivery charges and shipping
Set a delivery charge and a free-delivery threshold, give heavy products their own fee, and decide whether to book couriers by hand or through Shiprocket or Shipmozo.
Two different questions hide under shipping: what you charge the customer, and how the parcel gets there. The first is a setting. The second is a decision about how many parcels you send a week.
What you charge
Open Settings → Shipping. Set a Delivery charge (a flat amount on every order; 0 means free) and Free delivery above (the cart value at which the charge is waived). The free-delivery threshold is the simplest way to lift the average order: set it a little above your typical order and customers add one more item to reach it. The moment both are set, your storefront shows a Add ₹X more for free delivery bar automatically — on every plan.
A heavy or bulky product (a mattress, a mirror, a 10 kg bag of rice) can carry its own delivery fee on the product itself. Local customers can be offered a checkbox to skip the fee for pickup. All of it is in Set delivery charges. Use the pricing sheet from Price it right: the charge should cover what the courier really bills you for a typical parcel.
How the parcel gets there
- By hand, for a few parcels a week. Pack it, take it to the nearest courier or post office, paste the tracking link into the order with Mark shipped. Completely fine to start this way.
- Through a courier aggregator, once you send parcels most days. Shiprocket and Shipmozo are one account each that compares and books many couriers; you connect your own account under Settings → Integrations and every order gets a ship panel: package details, pick a courier at the rate shown, print the label, book the pickup. Tracking and delivery status flow back into the order on their own. SitesPlaced adds nothing to what the aggregator charges. Start with Ship orders with Shiprocket.
Keep phone and address required
Couriers need a 10-digit mobile number and a pincode to quote a rate. Your checkout form asks for both by default; leave them required for physical goods, whichever way you ship.
Packaging, briefly
Buy packaging for the first batch only. A sturdy outer bag or box, something soft inside, tape, and a card with your store's QR code — the card is your cheapest repeat-order tool. Weigh a packed parcel once; the weight is what the courier bills, and it tells you whether your delivery charge is right.
Write down
Delivery charge ₹___, free above ₹___. Packed parcel weight ___ g. Shipping by hand / Shiprocket / Shipmozo.
