# Policies & products page

> Write your store policies (returns, delivery), and control the layout and wording of your products page.

**Settings → Pages & policies** (or search *policies* in Settings) is where you write your store's policies page — shipping, returns, privacy and terms — and where you control how the products page looks: its header, filters, title, trust badges, the stock badge and the product-details tables. Every store ships with four sensible starter policies so you are never live with an empty page; you should still rewrite them in your own words, because customers and payment providers read them.

## Write your policies

1. Open **Settings → Pages & policies**. The **Policies** card is first.
2. Pick a **Sections layout** — **Cards**, **Timeline** or **Accordion** — for how the sections are shown on the policies page. Hover a button to preview it.
3. Write a **General statement** — one or two lines that appear at the top of the page, e.g. *"We ship across India and accept returns on damaged items within 7 days."*
4. Edit each policy under **Sections**. Your store starts with **Shipping Policy**, **Return Policy**, **Privacy Policy** and **Terms of Service**. Change the title in the top box and write the full text in the box below it. Plain text with line breaks works; there is no formatting toolbar here.
5. Click **Save**. Your policies page is at `/policies` on your store, and each section also gets its own page at the address shown under its title (e.g. `/policies/return-policy`).

> **Section URLs stay put:** Each policy's web address is fixed the first time you save it. Renaming *Return Policy* to *Returns & Exchanges* later keeps the same `/policies/return-policy` link, so anything you have shared or linked in your footer keeps working.

Link the policies page from your header or footer in [Navigation & menu](https://sitesplaced.com/help/md/online-stores/store-menu-navigation.md) — most templates already include *Shipping & Returns* and *Privacy Policy* in the footer. Need a starting point for returns wording? The [return policy generator](https://sitesplaced.com/tools/return-policy-generator) drafts one you can paste in. The **✨ Generate with AI** button on this card (Starter or Growth) writes store copy — headlines, about text, products page title and subtitle, footer tagline — from your business description; it does not write policy text, so the policies themselves are always in your own words.

## Products page display

The **Products page display** card controls the `/products` page that lists everything you sell:

- **Header layout** — **Default**, **Banner** or **Minimal** for how the page header is arranged.
- **Products page filters** — **Inline chips (default)** shows category chips above the grid; **Left sidebar** adds category, attribute and price filters down the side, which suits larger catalogues.
- **Products title** and **Products subtitle** — e.g. *"Our Products"* / *"Browse our collection"*.
- **What do you sell? (one word, plural)** — e.g. *perfumes*, *plants*, *sneakers*. Themed templates use it in search placeholders, empty states and *"See all …"* buttons, so a flower template on a perfume store says *Search perfumes* instead of *Search bouquets*.
- **Product page trust badges** — up to four short title + subtitle pairs (e.g. *Free shipping* / *On orders over ₹500*) shown as the reassurance strip on product pages of themed templates. Leave empty to keep the template's neutral defaults, and only claim things that are true for your store.
- **Info popup default label** — the default name for the per-product info image popup, e.g. *Size Chart* or *Usage Guide*. Can be overridden on each product.
- **Show stock badge ("Only X left" / "in stock") on product pages** — untick to hide the remaining-stock indicator. Stock is still enforced at checkout either way; see [Track inventory & stock](https://sitesplaced.com/help/md/online-stores/inventory-and-stock.md).
- **Show the "Product Details" spec table on product pages** — the Category / Availability / Size / Order-via table.
- **Show the "All Variants & Pricing" table on product pages** — the full variant, price and stock breakdown on products with options. Customers can still pick a variant from the selector when it is hidden.

## Product page FAQs

The **Product page FAQs** card adds a set of questions and answers under the buy buttons on every product page — the same set on all of them, written once. Each question is folded closed; a shopper taps it to read the answer. Use it for what people ask before they buy: how long delivery takes, whether they can return it, how sizing runs, how to care for it, which payment methods work.

1. Open **Settings → Pages & policies → Product page FAQs** and tick **Show the FAQs on product pages**.
2. Change the **Heading** if you like. It says *Frequently asked questions* unless you do.
3. Click **Add a question**, type the question and its answer, and repeat. Six to eight is plenty; the limit is twelve. The arrows reorder them.
4. Click **Save**. The questions appear on every product page, on every template, under the buy buttons and the offers box.

> **One set for the whole store:** The FAQs are store-wide, not per product. A question that only applies to one product belongs in that product's description instead. A question whose answer is still empty is skipped on the store, so you can draft without showing half-written text.

## Good to know

- Mention GST clearly in your Terms if you charge it — whether prices are inclusive, and whether you issue a GST invoice. The starter text says prices are inclusive of taxes; change it if that is not true for you.
- Payment providers and courier partners may ask for a live returns and privacy policy before approving your account. Write them before you apply.
- There is no add or delete button for policy sections on this screen — you have the four sections. Repurpose one you do not need (for example turn *Terms of Service* into *Terms & Cancellations*) rather than leaving it empty.
- Policies are plain text. Use blank lines between paragraphs and short numbered points; long single blocks are hard to read on a phone.
- Prices and claims in policies are not automatic — if you change your delivery charge or free-delivery threshold in Shipping, update the Shipping Policy text to match.

**Q: Where do customers find the policies page?**

At /policies on your store, and through any menu or footer link you point at Policies in Navigation & menu. Each section also has its own page at /policies/<name>.

**Q: Can I add a fifth policy section, like an FAQ?**

Not from this screen — it edits the four existing sections. For questions shoppers ask before buying, use the Product page FAQs card on this same screen; they show under the buy buttons on every product page. For a general FAQ, add the FAQ section to your Contact page from the Design tab.

**Q: Do I need a privacy policy for a small Instagram shop?**

Yes — you collect names, phone numbers and addresses at checkout, and payment and courier partners often require one. Keep it short and honest about what you collect and why.

**Q: How do I hide stock numbers but keep selling only what I have?**

Untick Show stock badge in the Products page display card. The on-page label disappears while checkout keeps enforcing your stock counts.
